Neck Knife

I'm looking for a concealed carry fixed blade and the Rat Izula caught my eye. However, I would like a sheath that has a clip or tek lok for more options. Who makes such a thing?

For its price, if you like the Izula, just have a sheath made to spec in the aftermarket. Go to the 'Sheaths and such' sub-forum here on bladeforums. Normally, custom kydex will run you about $20-$30. Given the Izula can be had for about $50, you are still ahead of the game. Plus, you'll have the extra RC-sheath which is very good, if not slightly too tight lock-up.

kgd, I was thinking this but didn't know of any kydex sheath makers. Thanks

Any other knife I should consider before laying down cash on the Izula?

Try contacting BF member Kiahs as a person who does custom kydex. He does some nice tactical stuff and has been quite active in these parts lately.

There are other options. I'd keep my eye out for a swampwarden, but that will require you to get a custom sheath and it will cost more. Fehrman's Through-hiker comes with its own kydex sheath. I don't know if it is compatible with a tek-lock or not. The difficulty seems to be that you want a Neck knife but do not want to carry it that way.

Good luck!

I'm not helping you much, unfortunately. Here is a custom knife from JK-knives (Goes by the name of Stomper here). He calls it his kit knife and has 1/8" mircata slabs.

Comes with a compact leather sheath that he can put a loop on if you like. Again you'd have to go to a custom maker for kydex.

Here is another custom one from maker Jimi Wade, also here on the forums. This one came with an On-Scene Tactical Sheath. If you pm Jiimi, he might have a few left. I know he made three at the time I bought mine off him late last year. The sheath on this one had a removal belt loop and could be fitted with a tek-lock.

The one below is another custom - 1/8" G10 slabbed custom from Bryan Breeden (goes by the name Sicily02) on BF. The thinner orange model is his Kat knife. Like John, he provides a leather sheath with his, but I had a custom sheath made from On-Scene tactical. Like the Wade necker, this one came with an integrated belt loop that I removed because I use it mostly for neck or pocket carry.

Scott Gossman has a PSK model can be had with or without mircata slabs. He has a sub-forum here on BF. Can't help you with the type of sheath he supplies.

Buck kaalo provides a nice little necker out of S30V. Its sheath is devoted neck carry.

Check Out the Becker BK11 "Becker Necker" I've decided to go with it over the Izula (for now:)) because I like it's sheath and carry options better. It's a little longer (bladewise) than the Izula, made with the almost the same steel (Izula is 1095 carbon hardened to 56-58RC, and the BK11 is 1095 crovan which adds a little more toughness hardened to 56-58RC) Both made in USA by fantastic companies. Izula will run you $50+, a Necker will run you about $35.

They will be able to provide pixs and descriptions of the sheaths. Most kydex sheaths have a couple of rivet holes that line up with the tec-lok or you can rig up 550 cord for a proper fit. Look at Blade-Tech, they make a tek-lok and other attachment devices if your knife doesn't come with one. Hope that helps.

PS... Horton makes a thick neck knife with a kydex sheath, very good steel (A-2 steel), and he's on this Forum. Great man to deal with and he can make the sheath to accept a tek-lok, I'm sure.

yep. And I just ordered a Necker and a clip. I'll let ya know how they work out.

Does the clip from Kabar allow for horizontal carry? Anybody have the contact info for the members mentioned that make sheaths?

ETA: I did purchase the Izula and Becker Necker :D

no, you cant use the Necker and clip horizontally, but vertically inside the waistband it is awesome! I can barely feel it, and it doesnt print through any of my clothes

Thanks everybody. Going to order the Blade-Tech Tek-lok so I can carry horizontally.

I know this is way out of line from what your thinking and talking about but I use a neck knife most of the time and often at work.

It functional but it ain't pretty.
