I am looking to get a neck knife for edc. But I would like one with a very comfy handle on it, because I have a habit of plunkin my rear end down and whittlin for a bit. Blade under 3 inches if you would please. I looked at the A.G. Woods walker and I like it but would like to see what other knives might be out there and who better to ask than all you fine folks. Price range is about 30 bucks or there abouts, a few dollers more won't bother me to much. Thanks for all the input.

Bark River Knife & Tool Bravo necker.

Google it ;) and tell Derrick that Ron sent you! :p

$30 is going to be a little tough, how much more could you afford?

Here's a little comparison I did between my neck-knives... The Bark River is by far the most comfy to me, but it's a bit pricey. ...cord wrap helps alot on the skeletonized handles of the others.

Here's a pic of their sheeths....

Here's my take on these guys...

Becker = best price,(just over $30) ..largest blade, nifty bottle opener, optional TDI clip makes it great for non-neck carry. -it is a bit large for neck carry though, and yet the handle is a bit smallish, also the 1095 steel is OK but seems to have the worst edge retension of the four.

Izula = smallest/most compact in factory sheeth for easy neck carry. -great overall knife but not quite the best at anything compaired to the others. IMHO.

Swamp Warden = my favorite steel of the lot, SR-101 is awsome, strong and holds an edge extremely well. this one has the longest handle which is good for comfort but makes it longer overall (obviously) ...yet I find that it's still pretty comfy for neck carry. - more expensive than the previous two.

Bark River Necker = compact, comes with fully convexed blade with satin pollished cutting surface, only one with stainless steel, has the nicest handle scales option, sheeth accommodates scales and holds a fire steel. - with handle scales it's the most expensive of the four.

It's a close one, but for me I have to say the Bravo I is my overall favorite for neck carry, followed by the Swamp Warden. ...Though my BK-11 seems to get the most use, but that's because I like the TDI clip carry option over neck carry. :)

Take your pick? The kydex sheathed duo can't be felt after awhile - you'll have to pat yourself occassionally to make sure it's there. They are tough as h*ll. 100% replacement guarantee, no questions asked. Break it and send it in and you get a new one. I was using the naked one yesterday to pry some stubborn pins out of my wife's car and later carved some twigs to a needle sharp point. I think they'll do it all in neck knife category. YMMV. :)

BTW: I've had the scales and took them off. The paracord wrap is much more comfortable.

My son is stationed in HI. For his birthday in Sept one the gifts I sent was a CKRT Folts Minimalist. He wears it next to his dog tags.

While it is not in the price range of $30, I would recommend the Izula-II for your purposes. It can be found for around $70 - this would be a worthwhile investment, because it has a full handle with micarta scales that would be very comfortable for whittling, a do-it-all blade, a tough design, and a LIFETIME warranty from ESEE.

It is more than worth the investment, IMHO.

ESEE Izula. I had one and loved it but the handle was too short for me. The handle might be a little short for you to whittle but how big is your hand? Mine is 4-1/8" across the palm. You could go with an Izula-2. I just got an ESEE HEST and love it. It's a little big for neck wear but ESEE knives are made from 1095 and they do it right.

Alright then If you all are gunna twist my arm about it ill just have to save up for an izula 2. It does look the most comfy. Thanks for all the input guys you really helped a lot.

I'm thinking CRKT Bear Claw, if you don't mind the hawkbill. Finger hole and damn comfy Zytel handle scales.

I'm after a swamp warden and a Mike Irie but for your viewing here is my current Kuroichi/Kintaro-ame Necker From Watanabe bladesmith in Japan.

That's ugly & beautiful at the same time. How big is it? Sheath for belt, pocket or neck carry? :)

If you plan on neck carry, the Izula with micarta scales is to heavy for me. I would recommend the Izula with a cord wrap or the Bark river bravo necker with micarta (lighter than g-10) scales.

Haha I like this little one.
Its 4 1/2 overall with a 2 inch blade. Razor sharp. Very hard steel.
Sheath is for neck carry

I'm looking at the cord wrapped Irie buy the way Hoopster. Nice one on gp knives. Actually can't decide on that or a Pat Crawford. Probably get both.
