NecK Knives in 2020

I've tried a few neck knives over the years but they never caught on. I didn't like wearing something under my shirt and I was usually in environments that discouraged external wear. I might have been able to wear a Real Steel Receptor on my belt without issue but as a manly piece of neck bling, no way.

Well, now it's 2020. It's a world of quarantines, lock-downs, and working from home. I've traded a blazer for a flannel. Heck, I don't even wear a belt most days. So I'm giving neck knives another shot. I've been wearing a Tangram Brevis on paracord. It's both handy and comfortable. Has anyone else discovered this in 2020?

I'm curious to know what neck knives people are using, how they wear, etc.

Ancient CRKT that uses AUS 6 steel.
Never warmed up to that way of carry.

I don't usually carry neck knives but I own two that I have carried on ocassion.

First one was a CRKT STIFF KISS that I slapped two homemade micarta handles on. Now you can actually use the knife for cutting stuff. The serrations are done the wrong way and steel does not hold an edge but... so far, it suffices.

Second one is a home made carbon steel micarta handles and kydex sheath that I got during a knifemakers Christmas Exchange. Nice little knife.

I use CRKT minimalist Bowie knife. It's a great neck knife.

I've worn all of these as a necker! You should definitely consider a ball chain as opposed to para cord though. Ball chain will break with a decent amount of pressure whereas the para cord is rated.to whatever number cord it is. I.E. 550 cord = 550lbs of force to break.. Odds are you'd croak before it broke!!!IMG_20200222_110440.jpg IMG_20200214_045955.jpg

I got a serrated edge Spyderco ARK, and its the most comfortable neck knife I have ever tried. Ridiculously light, handy, and rust proof.

I'm on the working from home quarantine program too.
Been rotating through A) Busse Skeleton Key, B) Swamprat Mega Swamp Warden and C) Williams Blade Design HZM 001.

Agree on the ball chain, like it much better than paracord.

The only designed neck knife I own is a Tops Mini Scandi Knife(MSK), and while I love the design and the knife itself, I more often than not toss it in my back pocket. Neck carry isn’t uncomfortable or anything, I just prefer it in a pocket. I still keep the paracord attached to the sheath and occasionally carry it that way.

It’s an amazing knife for walking the dog through the woods(I always try to clean off the sharp bits on the sticks I find when I throw them with my pup).

I really don't like them. Something about unsecured blades that close to vital parts bothers me, even if I don't plan on getting into any h2h today.

Retention obviously matters for any fixed blade but is crucial for handle-down necklace carry. A fairly light knife with a snug fit in kydex seems okay.

My Brevis was actually too snug when new. It took serious force to get it into and out of the sheath. I had to manually shave a little kydex to make it usable. Now I've been seeing the normal feature of wearing the kydex and it's in a great place. Has anyone had Kydex wear out on them?

I'd love to see some innovation on quality button or slide switch releases.
