I'm looking for a good neck knife for typical outdoor chores, not defense. I've checked out those from Cold Steel and Wicked Knife Co. Any others worth considering? Thanks, Clayton Hufford

Columbia River Knife and Tool's stiff kiss line is really good. they can be found on ebay for about $20, or about $25 at some stores and on the net.
they're AUS-6 steel.
i'd suggest the MDP (modified drop point) because drop points cut cleaner than the tanto blades. the tantos are good if you want a more rugged knife.
i've owned the NECK PECK, it's like a stiff kiss only smaller, and the MDP stiff kiss.
i just got a Wicked Knife Co. Woo neck knife (thanks a lot Gordon!) and it's a great self defense oriented knife, but if you want a very very durable outdoor knife then i'd suggest that. i think you can find the WOO (which is 1095 carbon steel) for about $30 on the net.

I would check out the Boker Bud Nealy with 440C blade. Price runs about $109.00 but I have seen them sell for about $60.00 on the exchange.

Do searches for Running Dog, Neil Blackwood, and check out the Pikuni on 1SKS. I have examples of all three. They are all different but are all very well made. Choose what ever you like the best and enjoy.

For the upper end of the price scale, Tom Mayo's Talonite stuff is nice! Also Allen Blade does some nice neck knives, he is a "Best Buy". I also like Running Dog and Kurt Meerdink. Another option is Mike Sastre's neck sheaths for the Spyderco folders. He makes a great low profile rig and you can carry a folder more places than a fixed. To me a neck knife has to be light enough to wear daily and small enough to not be noticed.

I tried to wear a neck knife and never found it to be useful in daily work life, if I worked outdoors then a knife on the outside of the shirt would be ok, but otherwise, reaching through my shirt and pulling a razor sharp knife out without damaging my shirt doesn't seem very likely!

In the link below are two knives, the top one is a neck knife but the way I wear it, is to loop the chain through my belt loop and drop the sheath into my back pocket and use the chain to retrieve the entire package when needed! Works pretty good for me.... nice size knife, the bottom knife isn't a neck knife but both are made by Rob Criswell and was given to me as a gift...Thanks RJ!

Actually, I'm having Taz from here on the forums make me a neck knife. Great guy and I'm sure it'll be a great knife. Nothing like getting to decide exactly what you want that way if you don't like the design it's all your fault.
