Well was looking around down in my sons room today and ran across a couple of neck knives I have given him over the years. I need to ask this does anyone really carry one for s.d.? I gotta tell ya looking a Woo and the REKAT I have or well used to as I gave them to my son, I don't get the point of them. I can see wearing the under ones shirt. No one knows you have them. I don't get it if you are wearing one under ones shirt as you can't get to it fast enough when you need it. I have worn a necker or modified necker under my shirt and jacket when bow hunting/fishing.

I don't know everyone makes such a big deal over tiny little knives that are easy to hide and would have to be hard to hold on to in a struggle much less deploy in a fight, struggle, whatever you want to call it. So what is everyone's take on them? keepem sharp

I think it would be pretty easy to hold onto a HAK in a fight, seeing how your fingers go through the loop that makes the handle and as long as your fist is clenched you probably won't drop the knife.
Also, if you wear your shirt untucked most of the time it is actually pretty easy and fast to quickly reach underneath and grab a knife.

Alot of the time I wear a necker when I'm messing around in the yard or workshop. I wear it outside my shirt and I find that very handy. My favorite knife for this kind of activity is an LP from Newt Livesay.

I wear and use my BRK&T Mikro and Charles May FireAnt around my nexk alot.

Some of my favorite small EDC neckers.

I wear mine under my uniform. If things go bad and lets say I get taken as a hostage - the thug doesn't do a careful search at least I have something to work with when the opportunity comes.

I mostly carry mine when fishing, hunting and odd yard jobs.I never know which I'll carry as I like several that I have.

I have a Beaker necker that I sometines carry under my t-shirt. Its not my first choice for a knife, but it does hold a very good edge; yet small enough that its not in the way

I carry my Perrin LaGriffe custom sometimes, more for fun than for s.d.
I always have a pocket knife as well, so it doesn't see much use.
It would have its particular uses in the unlikely event of a fight, though.

I always have a HAK around my neck. Useful for utility and (need be) SD. But I'd probably reach for my folder or fixed first, just depends on what situation I'm in. Trust me, get a HAK and neck knives will make sense. No fumbling around, just reach 2 fingers up there and you're good to go (get your minds out of the gutter).
