I found this case on the web and though it could make a pretty good survival kit, so I got it and this is what I came up with. The case is sealed with a rubber gasket and was intended to be carried around the neck, but you can snap the cord apart and toss the case right into your pocket. The cord that came with the case has a built in breakaway so if it gets caught up on something, it will snap right open. The size of the case is 4.3" tall, 2.7" wide, and 1.3" deep. Here are some pics of the kit:

I tried tying 20' of paracord up and using that to carry it.

Nice kit, Where did you get it. Looks good. Would much rather have my larger bag with warm cothes and medical kit poncho and survival blaket but that kit could mean the difference between living or dying in an unplanned emergency.

Thanks guys. I put the whole kit together myself. I always have a bunch of items around to make up kits, and being rather bored I deciced to put this together. I bought the case from www.bepreparedtosurvive.com, it's the Witz Keep it Clear Sports Case and it's around $7.00. All the other items in it are things you can buy from any of the survival sites on the net. It isn't as great as a larger kit, but if nothing else it could really save your life. It really fits in a pocket easily and you could carry it around with you just about anywhere.

Nice kit. I love ones this size cause I'll usually grab it before I go off in the woods. Anything bigger probably stays in the car unless I'm planning an outing. I've been thinking of making a couple just like yours to keep in the cars. I think you've just motivated me.

man you crammed a ton of stuff into that little case. it looks to be well prepared you have a majority of the essentials.

Cool. I seem to remember Jeff doing an article on a similar case in Tac knives magazine.

Little kits definitely have their place when you are in a rush, or have to ditch to much weight.

Carl,

I think it was the same manufacturer and model of case as a matter of fact. A stout folding knife, that small survival kit and an Inova X5, I think that was the pocket carried items in the article.

He also had a no B.S. approach to defending yourself in The Third World, if you have to do it, it's for all the marbles, kill them if you have to.

This is a great little set up. It is always good to have some type of kit either with you or neary by. I keep a larger kit in my truck, or my wifes if were in it, but might have to look at picking one of these cases up and putting it together for pocket carry.

I don't neck carry anything-after a few hairy whitewater instances with sunglasses and boonie hat getting caught around my neck I NEVER hang anything around my neck. Plus it's just a hastle with my pack straps and everything else getting caught on it...
