I've had my necker for a while now, and I can say that my only real complaint is the factory edge grind. The edge gets very obtuse towards the point and was uneven. This made it difficult to get a good sharp edge on it.
I went to WalMart and bought one of the Smiths brand 'Lansky-style' sharpeners ($11 on clearance). It has a course diamond stone, a fine arkansaw stone, and a medium serrated stone. It has 2 angles, 20 and 25 degrees.
I worked on that little blade for about an hour cutting off metal with the coarse diamond stone. I had to take off a lot of metal near the tip. I used the 20 deg angle. Once I was finished, touched it up with a few strokes of the fine stone - WOW what a difference. That little knife is SHARP! Huge improvement from what it was.
I'm sticking with the frame handle too. I don't find it very uncomfortable.
