Necker Series

We have the full size becker series. We have the tweener becker series. The knives that are smaller are all different enough not be a series of themselves. While all could be used as a neck knife, only the necker is worthy of a series by itself. Much like the full size and the tweener, the necker has a very distinct shape that would make a good standard to be replicated.

Imagine a necker with the blade of the 5 or 15. It would fit wonderfully on a dinning room table next to your fork. Maybe 4” blade without the choil or 3.5 if the choil stays. Eating with this would much more practical than with a blade the size of the 15. People wont give you that worried look. Dont forget the benefit of the bottle opener at dinner.

Imagine a necker with the blade from the 7 or 17. This really comes down to a preference or what people feel more comfortable using. Some people would rather have a drop point than clip point with or without a thumb ramp. You can have a pointier tip as well as putting the tip inline with the center of the blade.

Only real issue with the necker handle is the reason that we have the eskabar, comfort. Simple fix is to deepen the area for the index finger.

If i was as good as the warrior with a computer, i would render up some images for fun. I know none of this is likely, its just fun to speculate in these times if boredom. We just got the 18 so im satisfied for a little while.

With the changes made to the 16(ffg makes it less like a mini bk2) and the discontinue of the 15 and 17(though the bk5 is also discontinued and 17 isnt exactly a mini bk7). Kabar and ethan have moved away from the correlating designs between the full size and tweeners. They have even made original designs for the tweener series, tuko and harpoon. This creates more separation between the two which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Its is nice to have corresponding knives though, if only for us knife addicts. Normal people dont need so much “redundancy” in their knives.

All this makes it less likely to make another corresponding series of knives. But boredom makes me think too much

That win must have made you the envy of the forum. Looks like it is what the bk23 should have been instead of a mini-9 with a dainty handle.

i think any knife made with a different steel is going to be limited production like the tuko. And im ok with that.

There were a few of them floating around the forum. I believe Bladite, DerekH, tradewater, and his wife all have one. Moose used to, haha. The contest was to design Moose a new sig. Right up my alley.

That was a nice read. Too bad ethan didnt go ahead with the production. I did like the comment about this blade in the 11 handle would be a solid seller. I am glad he settled on the 11 over this prototype, i think the handle on the 11 is probably more comfortable and has a more versatile blade.

Honestly, with the 11 and 14, it really doesn't make sense for yet another necker.

I get what youre saying but the 11 and the 14 are the same exact blade. Now i could see the 14 being discontinued for that reason. Different blade shapes have different usages, different knife handles dont.

Now, being that we have the 11, 14, 13, and 23. That makes it so it would make no sense for another necker sized knife.

Over the years there have been a lot of ideas kicked around, and the Boss and KaBar went with what they felt would work best for everyone. Personally, while I would have loved another smaller knife (I mainly carry a 3.5" bladed knife as my EDC), the Tuko and the Harpoon both will do alot more than another neck knife would for actual use. The new wrench knife KaBar put out is awesome, at an amazing price point though, and could definitely fit the role of a new neck knife if you're still looking. And yeah, the proto neckers Dubz posted up are pretty slick. Mine has never been used either.

I never loved the BK-13 variants. But Dex's mondo mod on a BK-11 blew my socks off.
Small knives are my bread and butter, but they've gotta have enough handle.

Yeah, that wrench knife has been calling my name.

I am very satisfied with the tuko, harpoon, and necker and happy they made them.

got a wrench knife, like it, but it's going to take a bit of getting used to the thinner grip than my modded 14 with LMF Joe scales.
seriously thinking about modding one of my 24s.

I remember that mod.

That's one think I probably wouldn't like about the wrench knife.
