When I first joined Bladeforums. I made a mistake in posting on an old forum topic.
Aside from posts with a lot of barking one member explained an older post my not be accurate or have up to date information.
I my case he was correct and wrote how the old information was inaccurate.
I have been a forum member for about two years.......still kind of new.
Remember there are always new members joining. A tired old subject to you. Maybe something new to the new guy.
Is reviving an old post wrong, only if the information is not accurate.
My favorite is when someone new mentions GANZO !!!
Talk about initiation by "the gauntlet".
Just my thoughts........

Posting on an "old" thread:

Cons- As you state, the information given in that thread may be outdated and no longer accurate.

Pros - A new post can update/correct previously posted information. If left alone people who search for information will end up with wrong information.

The "barking" often seems to occur when someone posts a response to a post that is sometimes years old. I believe that in most cases the poster doesn't look at the date of the previous post.

I think people find it annoying when someone comes along and posts a casual or off the cuff comment with no actual content, or input, or value. I have no hesitation posting to an old thread if I believe I can add something of some value, or if my question can prompt responses that will further flesh out the information available in a thread.

That's about how I look at it.
