Some time ago, a number of you posted photos of your own excellent renditions of the Darrel Ralph 605 Special folder kit.

I have written a review, which I would like to submit to some of the trade mags. Unfortunately, I mangled my own kit so badly that I'm embarrased to take any photos of it. Worse, I am unable to get another kit until after the first of the year, at least.

Will any of you be willing to lend your photos to me for this article? If published, I will make sure you get credit for the photos and for building the kit.

If it's acceptable to the moderators, please post them here and let me know your email address.

Thanks. Sam

You might want to consider contacting Susan Fowler. She does a real nice job of hand fitting and finishing 605 kits (and has some good pictures). Susan shares a website with her husband, knifemaker Rick Fowler.

Unfortunately, mine is still being put together, and not nearly as nice as Susan's work looks. So don't feel too bad.

Figured I post a pic of the side of the handle I'm curretly working on anyway. I polished the bolsters and liners, used red micarta with black stripes, and am adding a silver inlay. I still needto remove the last layer of haze from the micarta. It polished up pretty well, but I still have some dull spots I'd like to buff out.

I've also removed the beadblast from the blade and am attempting a dual-tone hand finish. I've also rounded the spine of the blade which I hope to get polished up as well. However, the blade is just still far too ugly to post a picture of. Yep- actually worse than what you see below. ;)

I do have a bunch of work in progress type pictures, so if that would help you at all, I could forward those to you.

Excellent, Firebat. That is delightful, and one of the more creative things I've seen done with the 605 yet.
