Hey guys,
Well concrete season is quickly coming and i need a new work knife, im looking for a fairly inexpencive fixed blade lets say $60.00ish.
Blade shouldnt be any longer than 3.5"-4"ish.
I was looking at an izula maybe but im always curious about your opinions.
Thanks
Anthony

I'd look at a Spyderco Endura spyderedge, just because the serrations would rip those bags to shreds.
But if you're set on a fixed blade, the Izula sounds good.

I was gonna say Izula too. I don't think you can go wrong with that. If you want a slightly longer blade, check out the Eskabar which has the same handle design but a longer blade, 3 1/4 versus 2.88 from the Izula.

Vanguard i dont do a lot of work with the bagged stuff we work out of mixer trucks most of the time.
I use my knife for string lines sharpening pencils cutting expansion joint and such, the only reason i dont want to go with a folder is because in my experience the grit always gets into the pivot and in time it ruins the lock up so a fixed just seems to make more sense to me but i appreciate your opinion for sure.
Hark i was looking at those to as well as the Becker necker both possibilities for sure.
Any more of you got ideas? I know more than a few of us have opinions about knives here lol.

I've owned a lot of small fixed blade knives. The Izula was my first. Then I got a Swamp Rat Swamp Warden, which was a bit more expensive. Out of those, the Izula still felt more comfortable in the hand, and way more secure because of the way the handle angles to form the finger groove. The Swamp Warden had a more shallow angle and just made me feel like I would slip on the grip and on the cutting edge if I ever had to stab something hard. I eventually sold both of those and bought a custom, not that that information is important.

I would say the Izula or Eskabar are right up your alley. The Eskabar is a collaboration between ESEE and Kabar. It basically marries the Izula with the Becker Necker. You could also get a Bravo Necker for about 10 bucks more. http://www.the-knife-connection.com/bark-river-knives--bravo-necker--knives.html

The only other recommendation I have is for a Blackjack Necker. They use 154cm steel, which is great as well. It can be had for right under 60.

I cannot speak for the other knives since I've only owned the Izula and Swamp Warden for your price range. I imagine the Eskabar would feel exactly like the Izula, but with a longer edge.

I'd suggest an ESEE 3 or 4. I'm assuming you wear gloves frequently (could be wrong) and the Izula and the Eskabar might not provide enough handle for you then. On the positive side, if you get an Izula, and break it somehow, you KNOW your going to get a replacement from ESEE.

Depending on your hand size I would look at the Izula 2. I find the originals handle to be a bit cramped, but the 2 is quite comfortable.

The only other small fixed blade I can think of in your price range that hasn't already been mentioned is the Scrapyard Scrapivore.

Thanks guys i appreciate all the input, i didnt even think about how often i wear gloves so a bigger handle is a good thing.
Im probably going to look into the bravo 1 or an esee 3 if i can find a good price.
Thanks again and any other suggestions are always welcome.
