Trying to decide between the 68 white owl or the 66 calf roper slim. Going to be using it for edc at work. Trimming wire and such. So which one would you guys carry if you had to choose?

I'm thinking about a 66 slim and would like to hear others' thoughts as well.

The curve on the serpentine 66 is so slight, you really have to look hard to see the difference in shape between the 66 and 68. If it were me I'd choose based on a preference for Clip or Spear main blade, and then available handle covers.

The 66's serpentine, while slight, still adds a touch of visual interest and tactile pleasure. 66 all the way, for me.

One other thing to consider, when using the pen blade, is the spine of the closed clip blade.

The "v" shaped spine on the White Owl tucks nicely into my finger joints when gripping the knife.

Or, the "v" shaped spine on the White Owl bothers me - I'd rather have a slimmer grip.

Or, it don't matter to me! ;)

These side-by-side pics also show the ever so slight serpentine in the 66 frame. I like it too, Jeff.

Overall, regarding WO vs Slim I'm leaning towards the Slim.

(Might as well show the clips open, too):

Both are outstanding knives. Some of GEC's best. The slim has a thinner grind and a shape better suited for cleaning fish and small game.

Can't really offer more advice than that. I have both and would recommend both highly.

Love the comparison pics thanks. The white owl is the spear with a bail. I like the 66 a lot to and am leaning slightly that way too

I really like that Turkish like clip on the 66, that would be my choice I think. Both are nice tho and if you prefer the spear point main blade then the 68 is the way to go I guess. For a work knife a spear main would be a good choice, strong and versatile.

I'd have to agree. I had a 68 and I have a 66 slim now. Both fantastic! I think the main blade on the 68 is thicker than the main blade on the 66 slim, so the 68 might work better for you stripping wire and other stuff like that.

I would say 66 slim all the way, by virtue of it being harder to trade into one vs a wo!

We'll this is the one I went with. Very excited! Couldn't say no to that lovely stag! Hope the pic is ok to post

These are both firm favourites of mine.

Now you've got the Slim, it's time to snare a White Owl...has a much wider Clip blade and then there's Spear.

Great looking knife you chose. Looks like it would be equally at home on the job site, around the office or at a hunting or fishing camp. I have become a fan of the Turkish clip lately.
