So I have a newly acquired Tin Chirra CAK and it is gorgeous. Unfortunately the grip that came with it (while beautifully made out of horn) is slightly too large for my hand. It is to the point that when I swing it, that it almost feels slightly out of control. I am at school currently so I do not have access to the tools that I normally would and I was wondering if anyone could rerehandle my CAK for a fee. I would also purchase the materials for the handle (g10). I could also pay for shipping costs both ways. If anyone is willing to attempt this let me know your fees and relevant experience.

By the way, pics of this beautiful kukri will be up in a separate post soon and I just want to thank Yangdu for an incredible blade and excellent customer service.

Thanks in advance guys,

Tony Nguyen

Looking at your first name, am I right to say you are Vietnamese?

The forumites here can show you the place.

Tony, add your rough location to your profile or post it. Somebody may be near by or we might be able to connect you up with a professional Maker or Tinkerer. Here is a how-to I did if you might be interested in trying it yourself http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769093
On second read of your original post. You can sand that handle down to fit your hand. Get a selection of sandpaper and maybe a half round rasp or file from a local hardware store. If you have time you can do it yourself maybe while taking a break from your studies. Go slow as you can't put material back and you will have it perfectly customized to your hands. When you are done keep it oiled with mineral oil. The sanding might smell a bit funny but it won't kill you. Have fun with it you can always send it off to be rehandled if you don't like your results

Tony your in a good spot for it there are a lot of makers in that area. I still think you should try reshaping it yourself. Karda is at least in the same state as you. If you don't get any help in a day or 2 email me and I'll try to help you introduce the subject in the Maker's subforum.

The only problem with reshaping it myself is that I don't have any of my tools here. I live roughly 300 miles from where I am at school. I could use the tools at school but I feel they might have a slight problem with a 12 inch blade on campus :p

I suppose I could rent out a dremel from the advanced manufacturing lab and just sand it down. Or I could use sand paper. I feel that those options would both take longer and take me from my interesting course matter. I looked over your tutorial and I understand the concept it just isn't feasible right now I don't think.

Also for modification purpose in general I was thinking of possibly taking the blade down a slight bit. Not on the spine, but since its a tin chirra it has waves on the side of the blade that I feel are mostly for show.

And thanks Oldschool. I'm really happy that everyone on this forum is so willing to help.
