Need a Christmas gift for my Dad

My wife told me we need one more gift for my Dad this year, so I thought I would grab him a new Schrade for Christmas.

I got him a Case 3 years ago for Christmas, but whatever I got him is too big because he seldom carries it.

This time around I think something really small would be great. I'm thinking something like a 807uh would work well. I'm not a collector, but I have a few Schrades that I love and am a sucker for old made in the USA items.

Anyway, what are some other models that come to mind around the size of the 807uh? From the research I've done I've come up with the 707UH,106OT and 104OT.

Thanks for your time.

804UH Journeyman - 2-3/4" - clip & pen blades; w/shackle; 72OT - 2 3/4" - clip and pen "peanut"; 12OT (no bail) or 12UH (bail) are both a single blade trapper: 108OT (same blades as 807UH), 18OT (single blade linerlock)... these are all knives in the same size, and there are some of the open stock models too.

If you can find them, there are a bunch of knives they made in this size.

Keep in mind that most new Schrades are imported; the Imperial-Schrade Corporation went bankrupt in 2004, marking the end of production for 'real' Schrade knives (at least according to most Schrade collectors).

There are plenty of new-condition original Schrades (Old Timer, Uncle Henry, etc.) still around though, particularly at online auction sites. You'll need to shop carefully though and learn to distinguish the originals from the modern imports.

Happy shopping, and good luck.

Being a fan of locking blades I have to throw the 3OT "Bearhead" into the mix. It's a quarter of an inch longer at 3" closed but that's still a small knife.

Here's a pic of a fancy one I have:

To echo Bob W, ensure that "Schrade USA" is on the knife you choose. If you only see "Schrade" it's a new Chinese product.

i second the 3OT vote i carry it at work and it is a very handy sized knife. and not too heavy in the pocket either.

I love the size of the 3OT too, and that drop point is a great blade.

Well, the search may be over. I did a search for Schrades ending soon and saw this little guy with a few minutes left to go. It looks to be in great shape, so I grabbed it.

I really like my 807UH so I may just keep this one for myself and keep on searching for something with a box and papers since it's a gift.

I really like the Uncle Henry and Old Timer that is the same size with the scissors.
