Need a comparison

I just bought a SureFire Z2 and will probably be having a 6P coming in through a trade as well. My question is, how do these two lights compare in brightness? I haven't looked at any specs on them yet. Also, how bright are the two lights mentioned above compared to an E2 with the 60 lumen bulb? Thanks.

The two lights should be identical (assuming batteries are at the same stage) as they take the same lamp assemblies- the P60 (65 lumens for 60 minutes) and the P61 (120 lumens for 20 minutes). The E2 is about 7% dimmer - not so much that you'd notice- but lasts for 25% longer (75 minutes) - which you will notice.

Thanks for the reply, Tim. I have one more question. How long do the bulbs on the Z2 last typically? It's not going to be turned on and left on for extended periods of time, most of it is probably going to be momentary ons and offs. The guy at the store told me that they're only good for the 60 minutes burn time, but I was very skeptical about that. There's no way that it'd only last 1 hour, right?

The bulbs are supposed to last for about 30 hours. If you have an abnormally quick burnout time, you can contact Surefire and their warranty department will take care of it.

The E2 is dimmer in that the beam is wider and the hotspot less pronounced. However, the hotspot is perfectly circular, unlike many of the 6P lamp assemblies (P60). In the 6P, the beam actually appears to be less bright, since it's all oval-shaped and ugly.

Since the E2e is my perfect EDC flashlight, I should have gotten a 9P/Z3/C3/M3 for "tactical use" (read: 'impressing friends'). I can't stand the fact that my 6P is just as bright as a smaller flashlight.

i have an E2e, a Z2 and Z3, and a M3, all about the same EXCEPT the M3, w/the high output bulb in it, it is WAYYY brighter than the Z2/Z3/E2e. like night and day, pardon the pun, lol

I think that depends on your particular lamp assembly. I've used P60 and P61 lamp assemblies in my 6P, G2Z, and M2, and all of them are perfectly circular. The only oval beamed Surefire I have is the M3...

Hmmm, seems that I've just been getting crappy lamp assemblies. Oh well. I'll be upgrading (via A19 and M2 bezel head) to a pyrex-9P soon, hopefully the P90's that I get will be less oval.
