I am considering a 4-6 inch knife for bushcraft/survival usage. Could you please give me a few options. Also might I add, can the knife be cheap under $75.

Mora of sweeden makes really inexpensive knives ranging from $8 to $30 and one or two models for $50 to $70.

They are the type of knife that you need to take good care of (ie no batoning or thrashing in the dirt). They will outperform almost any other knife for cutting and shearing wood. Even the 8 dollar models work as well as the 30 dollar models. You cant go wrong for this price. Check them out at ragweedforge.com.

For a "survival" knife that you can thrash on and baton with, check out Kabar "heavy bowie" series or the Ontario "spec plus" knives. They average at around 50-60 dollars after shipping.

As long as you're going to Ragweed Forge, check out the Jarvenpaa knives from Finland. :) Their basic models are within your budget and they are the original bushcraft knives. They are considerably sturdier than the Moras as well.

Gerber Prodigy isn't a bad knife, now I normally totally dislike most of Gerber's products and the steel is brittle and lower performance compared to what you'd get out of a 100 dollar survival knife like a fallkniven or rat, but it's in your budget and it's pretty robust.

+1. A few of the Beckers (made by Kabar) are in your price range too.
