So far, I own a Kabar Mark 1 with combo edge, a Mora Bushcraft Black, and I own a spyderco resistance.

I've been looking at a few knives: ontario rat 2, buck 110 (mostly because it's so classic), buck/tops csar-t, kabar Bk 2, kershaw blur s30v, and the kershaw cryo II.

The bk2 would be my axe, I messed up my shoulder and swinging an axe causes serious pain so is use the bk2 to split wood and baton, maybe even use it as a prying tool. As for the folders, I just need something that can do almost everything. I have no preferences on steel, blade type or anything. As long as it's generally good steel (the lowest quality steel is be comfortable with is aus8 and the very similar 8cr13mov (although is rather have better steels like ats34 and s30v)

BUDGET: $85. So either two of the cheaper knives or one expensive knife. Make sure shipping fits within the budget as well. (I am an amazon prime member so I do get free two day shipping with most items.

I've done a lot of research, watched a lot of reviews by nutnfancy and wealljuggleknives but I feel the people in this forum have better knowledge.

Thanks!

The Moras make good general household knives. I buy the Victorinox kitchen knives; since my wife sometimes uses knives to pry stuff in the kitchen (lids mostly), I probably have 10 or so stashed for immediate use should the need develop. I like them. Cheap and useful.

I think the BK-2 will work for your purpose. It however is not a good chopper; maybe occasional chopper catagory. You might consider the BK-9. The BK-16 is one of my favorite Beckers and my favorite size for general woods use. Been developing a serious liking of the BK-15 as a general knife with slicing capabilities. The BK-5 is too long for me, although for meat processing it would work great.

The knives you mention are generally good. It is just a matter of deciding. Buck 110 is a good knife. I used the Schrade version for years as my field and sometimes hunting knife.

For something inexpensive, take a look at the Kabar Dozier Hunter folder which runs about $20. Good knife for the money.

Better steels are available in spyderco for the money, and if you can avoid prying with the knife, go with a bk4, lighter than a 2 and chops better due to the ability to exert more leverage with the wrist per swing.

Out of the ones you listed, for a general use EDC folder, I'd go with the S30V Blur.

Other good EDC folder options would be the Endura 4, Native, Manix 2 from Spyderco. If you want something a bit more affordable and very tough, then look at the Recon 1, American Lawman or Voyager from Cold Steel. The Lionsteel Opera is in your price range as well, it's a cool combination of traditional and modern design features (it comes in a couple of different handle materials). Also, Case has a lot of great models that might tickle your fancy since you like the Buck 110 (I find Case CV slipjoints more practical than my 110 or 112).

Mora knives should fit your fit your bill, IMO, but there are a lot of great other knives.

Email me if you want a Buck Tops. I am going to sell one and can make it affordable for you.

Opinel folders are great for all around, and are a great price.

Svord KGO for fixed ($35ish from baryonx), kershaw zing stainless (love mine, tough enough and easy to sharpen on your jeans) for about $20 and $30 left over to spend on a good sharpener? Or a opinel set of paring knives if you have one.

Rat (size is up to you) and a BK2. Good to go for what you described.

Yup! Rat 1 does everything in my house big and small. I even sliced tomatoes with it yesterday with a satin finished version. Full flat grind and the best deal in the world for $30. BK2 Rocks as well.

did the acid from the tomato stain the blade?
