Hi all new to the board. I would like to ask for a little help I'm putting together an oh shit bag or you could call it a grab and go bag one of the things I would like to have in there is a nice fixed blade knife but I don't want to have to sell my house to get it.

I've been reading the post for the last couple of weeks and I see that alot of you like to buy the custom fixed blades so I checked a few places and they are way over my head, I would like to keep the price around 100.00 if at all possible.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

No point in spending a lot on a custom knife. If it is a knife you intend to really use, go for a cheaper one. What type of knife do you want? What size? And for what purposes?

Type of knife I'm thinking a bowie, size medium, purpose not realy sure just looking for one to put in my grab and go bag never thought about what I might be using it for.

Check Ranger Knives, an RD6 for exampe, It's a great knife, under 100$, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. The customer service is awesome too :)

I just add that there is Ranger knives forum on knifeforums.com

Ranger Knives if you dont mind waiting a bit, here are a few more.
Sog Seal (right about 100 great knife)
Gerber LMFII (also right at the 100$ mark, finish is not so polished though)
Buck Strider Solution (i had one of the original ones, not sure model #, it rocks though.

For a hundred dollars you could get a large chopper / sharpened prybar type of knife like an Ontario Spec knife (Would need serious reprofiling though) or a Becker knife. With the leftover 50$ you could grab some Mora's and a butchers knife or two.

I will add one vote for Scrap Yard knives... probably the most bang for less than $100- bucks.

I would also recommend that you check out Scrap Yard Knives. They only have one knife available right now in two different configurations, but I don't think you can go wrong with the black blade Scrapper for that price range. Ranger is also a good choice.

A good all around fixed blade knife is the SOG Seal Pup Elite. I carry it a fair amount in the woods. It has about a 5" blade. It runs around $70. Another SOG possibility is the NW Ranger which is sort of a hunting knife. Nice. The SOG bowie is nice too, but it runs a bit over $100. Take a look. I don't have the bowie but I have the SOG Tech I which is about the same knife. Cool blade. Go to SOG's web site to browse or shop here http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4694

I just got an RD7 and am more than happy, its good for a lot of tasks, well priced, and a beast.
