Hi guys I'm looking for some help. I want to buy a folding saw and don't even know where to start. Im going away with the family and will be doing some hiking and some fire building and need a folding saw looking to spend around 40. I want a saw that will last me some time I will use it around the house triming small branches and some yard work. I know I can get an ax but with kids around me and in the woods a rather get a saw.

Victorinox Farmer. :p

IMO, the best folding saw at that price is the Bahco Laplander.

+1 on the bahco, you can also go with the 396-hp Bahco (same saw but in orange and black and with some different labels on it, but same build and swiss steel blade). Also take a look Silky saws (fat boy, pocket boy, etc) (I only have the bahco myselft but the Silky saws get a lot of good reviews too).

Silky is supposed to be the best (i.e. silky pocket boy) but the bahco laplander is also well reviewed and it costs half the price. Depending on how much you plan on using it, you might want to think of replacement blade availability. Stock replacement blades for the silky saws are readily available but Ive heard its hard to get replacements for the bahco - most being 3rd party and lower quality than the original.

Edit - I didnt see the 2 bahco replies before I posted. Looks like a trend. I would probably get the bahco again myself (dont have a silky just going by word of mouth on quality) unless you do a lot of tree pruning. The stock blade lasts a long time.

the bacho laplander hands down! it is the only folding saw i own that is not total garbage. it is the only folding saw i have used that i reccomend to somebody. it is an excellent tool. i keep mine in my hunting pack

I bought a Bahco Laplander and was so impressed, I bought another for back up.

Thanks guys I'm getting the Bahco looked it up on YouTube and just like you guys say looks awesome.
