I'm looking for a great, high quality DB axe handle, anybody know a place? this is for future refference. but anyay, prefferably under $40.

well, I was thinkin of one with the tapers in it, but if it comes to it, i'll just put the tapers in myself

Lowe's usually has a good selection of Ames True Temper dbl bit Hickory hafts for about 11$.

alright, thanks

just looked'm up, i cant really tell, but it doesnt look like they have the tapers, beavertooth looks like it might, by tapers i mean sections of the handle where your hands go, they'd be slightly thinner then the rest of the handle, do any of these have that? and i dont mean the palm swell.

Lowes has $10 double bit handles , go and sort through them, the best ones are quite good.

Beavertooth (retail outlet for Tennessee Hickory Products) handles are very fat and require a lot of slimming. OTOH, they're made of very high quality white hickory and they give you plenty of material to work with. If you don't want to shape the haft yourself then you're best off searching all your local hardware stores and hand selecting the best you can find.

House Handle hafts have pretty good shape right from the factory. You can choose to pay a couple bucks extra for a 'hand-picked' top grade handle. Not all of their customers have been satisfied by what is hand-picked. There's a thread on here about that.

After this last batch from House I'll be buying elsewhere in the future. Tennessee Hickory is the likely choice for me.

On edit: I'm returning most of the handles I received to House. I simply can't expect a customer to accept the product. Both the handles I tried to use cracked with light tapping setting the head. They all looked like shillelaghs. Unacceptable.
