I've been on the bali sub-forums for the past few months and have found that i just like knives in general. I'm looking for a good, sturdy, small fixed blade to carry along with my bradley mayhem. I'm not looking for a boot knife, i don't like the fact that most boot knives don't have any grip/handle material. I like a little substance in my hand while I'm cutting. Mainly the reason I need one is because I'm heading home from Iraq soon and I can't really carry my bali anymore. What do you recommend?

+1 to what you consider small. 4" or less blade or total?

The most common recommendations you will here:

ESEE Izula
Bravo Necker
Swamp Warden
Becker Necker

Also worth looking into:
Busse SAR3
Scrap Yard Scrapivore (soon to release)

If you look at anything offered by ESEE or Bark River... just pick your favorite.. can't go wrong with either company.

+1 on these blades. If you dont mind riding the line at 4 inches, i'd also recommend an ESEE RC-3. Good luck on the knife hunting!

Check out the Bark River Woodland. If you'd rather have a 4" blade, the Highland would work.

I'd consider a fixed blade that can be put in my pocket small.

I would also recommend the ESEE Izula with the micarta handle slabs. There are several small pocketable fixed blades on the market out there. I don't have experience with them, but I've heard good things about Bark River knives as well.

Thanks for the quick replies and recommendations, any good ideas on places to purchase any of these knives on the web?

My recommendation is for anything from Bark River. Specifically the Bravo Necker and Bravo Necker 2.

These knives exude quality. They are so sharp, and so well balanced. I have a Bravo Necker and it fits in my pocket sheath perfectly. It's so comfortable in hand. If you need some extra space, try the Necker 2. Half the fun is picking the color of knife and color handles you want. Makes it feel custom.

Here's mine next to my DDR.

0_0...-_-...0_0, thats how long it took to find the knife i wanted, a blink of an eye. I really appreciate you're help guys and expedience as well. I'm goin' with the Bravo Necker 2 with blue and black G10. Thanks again, i'll be sure to come back here when i have some more questions about a fixed blade, but next time its gonna be a bigger one!

Yes. only difference is the length of the blades. Great knife, great company. Mike is a standup guy to deal with should you ever have an issue.
