Hey guys,
I just need a good utility knife which would be super flexible and easy to carry. Medium level cost. Do you have anything in mind??
Thanks

ESEE Zancudo is pretty good. Rat 1 or Rat 2. I'll also recommend the VG 10 Spyderco Stretch. The Cold Steel American Lawman is good too.

Hi Just Machete -

Welcome to the forum.

I am not sure what you are really looking for, but for a UTILITY knife - it's hard to beat the Easy Cut 1000 - has adjustable depth, an edge guard for opening boxes, and comes with a lanyard (thong for you purists) and a clip-on belt sheath.

You'll find them by googling for them, and they are generally around $20 with a few replacement blades.

If you want a utility knife, honestly, your typical $10-$20 home improvement store razor knife is not a bad option. If you're looking for a dedicated folder, Cold Steel has a few knives I would look into. Check out the Voyager models for some really excellent work knives, maybe scout around for a deal on a Code 4 in CTS-XHP (I've seen them around $65 with some regularity), or you might give the Cold Steel Tuff Lite a try.

Outside of Cold Steel (which can, admittedly, fall outside of the "easy to carry" category), check out the Kizer Vanguard models for good values on good knives. If you want something lightweight, the Spyderco Endura, Delica, and Native (FRN models) are all very good options if you're willing to swing a little higher on your budget (not knowing exactly what "medium level cost" entails for you).

If you're looking for something relatively inexpensive, then, the Spyderco Tenacious is a good option that can often be found for about $30. The Kershaw Skyline is right in there as well, and so is the Kershaw Leek. Some stores have a pretty solid deal on the Kershaw Injection, which, for about $15, is pretty hard to beat. I've also heard good things about the CRKT Pilar and Ontario RAT 1. Additionally, give Stedemon ZKC and Steel Will (Cutjack, Modus) knives a look.

So, having given a million options, here's what I would suggest in decreasing order of preference (and ignoring cost): Spyderco, Stedemon, Cold Steel, Steel Will, Kershaw, CRKT, and Ontario.

Thanks. I think the Spyderco Tenacious can be a good option.

Maybe check out the KA-BAR Dozier.
At $20 it's known to be a great lightweight knife for utility use.
I'm expecting one in the mail pretty soon if not today, and can't wait to check it out.

That Dustar cutterjack thats been recommended definitely looks like a great option for sure though.

Some very good suggestions here. I have an Ontario RAT 2, just bought a RAT 1 and RAT 2 in D2 steel. Also got a Tangram (Kizer) Sante Fe just last week. There are some very nice utilitarian knives out there with low price tags.

And if you are slitting cardboard and whatnot, get a utility knife with replaceable blades to go along with it. I have gotten single-edge razor blades and even and USA-made utility knife blades for 5 cents each.

Hard to define what medium level price may be....
For a dedicated folder I would say:
Opinel n°7 or 8, the basic carbon steel version is one of my favourite for less than $15
victorinox SAK, the Huntman or Spartan in the $30 range do even more than anything a pocket knife is supposed to do :)
Spyderoc Delica, the basic VG10 version is an outstanding EDC for $60
Spyder PM2s110V, this one cross the $150 line but it is a great utility knife with a great steel

Depending on your personnal tastes I think it may be good to have a look at the spyderco range....

I would buy a Spyderco Stretch!! Or maybe a Cold Steel code 4, CS ultimate Hunter, Spyderco delica/ endura/ salt series, Stedmond has some pretty cool cheaper tantos on ball bearings. Look em' up!, and good luck!
