Your knife has on it the outline of the island of Crete, and inside this outline is the Greek word, Κρήτη, or Kriti. The other word, to the left, is Ηράκλειο, or Irakleio, or Heraklion, the capital of Crete. The date 1951 would be the ten year anniversary of the Battle of Crete, in which partisans and Allies fiercely resisted the Nazi invasion.
The knife itself looks like a kitchen slicing knife with a hardwood handle. Maybe olive or juniper, though, both of which grow all over the Mediterranean. Nice find.
