Need a Handle

I have a cord-wrapped apprentice Mean Street that I would like to get some nice micarta handles put on.

Any recommendations on who can do this?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I see a lot of people here saying they "need a knife" or "need a sheath" I don't think I've ever heard " I need a handle". ;):D

Sorry I can't help, but hopefully someone around here can point you in the right direction.

I'm in the same boat. Since I can't seem to get my hands on a mean street, I'm trying to get my Apprentice rehandled, but so far the few people I've gotten leads on haven't been willing to try the job.

I keep seeing threads in the "For Sale" section that have been modified by Frank Recupero(spelling?). He seems to do everthing from file work to new handle jobs. The Benchmade stuff he has customized looks spectacular, has anyone contacted him already?

Make sure that our apprentices didn't "de-horn" the handle for cord wrapping. If they rounded the edges in order to protect the cord handle from being cut, then "hafting" the knife might be very difficult. Hard not to leave, what will appear to be a gap between the handle material and tang. If your knife does have this, tell them to use a thick spacer material and a boat load of epoxy.

Nuke on!

Jerry
