Need a HD upgrade for my IBM laptop

All,

I am looking for recommendations for places that would swap IBM laptop HD and copy the content of the old HD onto the new one, including image, softwares, and documents - the full she bang. I know I can copy my documents on a separate drive and then retransfer them, but I don't want to have to reinstall Windows, potentially loose some valuable soiftware that were shipped with the machine, etc. I'm obviously willing to pay for the convenience (although when I know the price, I might change my mind...)

IBM has a new version of "Rescue and Recovery", free for download from IBM, which will work on many IBM PCs. It should allow you to burn an image of your hard drive to CD or DVD. Then restore the CD or DVD image to the new hard drive.

I've used it before, and it works well. The only catch is that you need a CD or DVD burner. Depending on how much hard drive room your laptop is using, it could be a lot of CDs.

IBM Rescue and Recovery

This page has the download, documentation, and a list of supported PCs.

Be aware that depening what security options you chose for th elaptop, the old hard drive may not work anywhere, and the new one might not be accepted. :D

I would call IBM about it. Definitely get the OS install CDs from them

If your quote is more than $270 then you can DHL the sucker to me and our IT techs will do it for free, within 5days ;)
