I been using my Kbar. Not happy with how long it stays sharp edge chips easy.
Not looking for a huge blade 5- 7.5 inchs. over all camp knife little wood work/ rope/ whatever need to get done. needs to take a edge nicely so i can skin a deer with it. looking for a over all hunting/camping knife. also looking to buy soon so need to be a knife i can just order no long wait times. any Fehrman knives meet my needs always wanted one

Consider Bark River knives. I'm not into blades quite that long and it's a little long for skinning, but doable. I'd recommend a BRKT Bravo-1 or Fox River. Most internet supliers (DLTTradingCompany, KnivesShipFree, NewGraham, KnifeCenteroftheInternet, etc) have on-hand what you see (DLT very good), so say you order Friday with USPS Priority you shaould have it Wednesday-Thursday or sooner.

The Buck Alpha Hunter is a very nice hunting knife in either ATS34 or 154CM steel, but not as good as the Bravo-1 for hunting AND camp knife.

There are lots of them out there, and I guess you're going to hear the gamut...
Good Luck

SOG Seal or Seal Pup Elite. The Seal Pup Elite straight edge has worked well for me. I'd suggest the nylon sheath instead of the Kydex. sheath. Retail $ 60 to $ 75...

Another vote for Bark River. There is a model to fit every need, but beware... Barkie fever knows NO cure.;)

Well, I have the Fehrman Last Chance and love the size and performance. Not too big to wear comfortably on the belt, I like the wide bladed profile and so far, I've had no problems with 3V even with some chopping into some knotted hard wood. The handle seems a little large, but works well, even with gloves.

Another (less expensive) option would be a Blackjack Grunt that I'm recently been using here in Iraq. For a general purpose knife, it's actually pretty darn good. I would assume the large belly and convexed edge would do wonders on larger game. It is AUS8 steel, but I've been impressed so far.

Take a look at the bark river boone.I like mine alot. I have not used it for any game cleaning tasks yet.but for camp and other field tasks its great! good luck!

I dont get how someone can skin a deer with a sword, but that is a european thing. Anyway. A great hunting knife is the Fallkniven H1, then the F1 to be followed by the WM1. There are also the TK5/6 and the NL5.
A bigger camping knife is the S1 and the A1 and similar Fallkniven knives in the same size.

The Bark Rivers are about the same quality but most are not stainless.
With a budget of 350 you can get an A1 to keep in your pack, a F1 to keep in your belt and a WM1 to keep around your neck and still have lots of money to buy freezedried food :)

I just got my first Ranger yesterday. It is a tank of a knife and made of 5160 steel that is heat treated right. If you want a knife that will take a lot of punishment and never let you down get a Ranger! It came before Justin promised and it came sharp. Oh, and it only cost 89 bucks!

I just got my first Ranger today. I can't possibly imagine being able to buy a better, or even equal quality knife for less money. On top of that he will make it however you want it and do it quickly! I had blue/black G10 scales put on mine and had min do the knife in a satin finish and still received it in a couple of weeks. I would highly recommend giving Justin a call.
