Need a Knife for Wood Handled Wednesday!

Hey all! Spring has finally arrived in Pennsyltucky which means it's shorts weather, and I always feel more comfortable carrying slightly larger and heavier knives than I usually prefer during the winter (the sub-3 inch class) when I'm wearing shorts. Today I dropped a 3 1/2" stockman in my pocket and it hasn't aggravated me one bit. Lately it's been bugging me more and more that I don't have any american-style wooden handled knives (I have 3 opis but they're really a completely different animal) and I was hoping that the vast experience of the traditional forum could help me find one. I really like the looks of a lot of wood-handled knives, especially the more simple two and one bladed ebony jacks/pens. Here are some general specs of what I'm looking for:

3 3/4 inches or under - I know I said I carry larger than in winter, but I still tend to prefer smaller knives that won't weigh down the pocket too too much
Wooden handles
Not too expensive

And that's really all I care about. I love the looks of GEC's TC barlow and Boys knife in ebony BUT as a college student always lacking cash even they are a little pricey for me, I was hoping some of you might know of some slightly less expensive alternatives, although if it's got to be the GEC's I guess it just has to be. Thanks for any advice you might have in advance!

How's about a nice Boker carvers Congress knife?

Böker is indeed a good choice, excellent quality and not too expensive. You might do a search here for pictures of the recent olive wood knives. I myself am regularly tempted by the beer barrel knives (but have so far been able to resist).

One of the best wooden handled knives I was lucky enough to get is the GEC Tidioute 68 White Owl in ebony.

Equal end, looks really nice, feels great in the hand and a slim single spring. 3.5" Elegant durability. Clip or Spear master.

I highly recommend the #15 boy's knife. I just picked up single blade ebony barehead for about $65 shipped. Well worth the money imho. I don't know if they're a paid sponsor so PM me if you'd like to know. It was my first GEC as well, but won't be my last so be careful :)

May I suggest a Queen City Copperhead. 3 3/4" and you can choose black, wine or red wood. It's sold by a forum member and the price is definitely right.
I'll send you a PM with the details. Not sure if posting price and website is allowed in the thread.

EDIT.....just realized I can't PM you because of your status.

Moderators.....Please let me know if I can post the website. Thanks.

Boker is a great place to look, I completely forgot that they make a lot of nice traditionals. Thanks for the heads up!

Bdev- I really should upgrade my member status, it's certainly something that I think is worth a little money. That is a nice looking knife, I'll do a little snooping and see if I can find the maker myself

I have one of these knives, and they are great. Excellent fit and finish on the knife I got, and certainly priced right. Mike told me they were "pretty good", but the man can have a talent for understatement. I got the "wine" as well and it is a deep, brick red, which looks great on this style of knife.

This one is in 1095, so it is easy to sharpen and easy to maintain. A big  on this one.

That would be no, with one exception. If the dealer is a BladeForums Dealer Member then yes you can post a website or make a reference. No prices though.

You can find a list of the Dealer Members at the link in my signature line, or in the sticky at the top of the forum page.

if Money is an Issue, there is a US company called Bear and Son that sell some jacks and such in rosewood i believe in the 15$-30$ range. not sure about the quality though, seen alot of mixed reviews, but at some of the prices, it wouldnt be to trajic if something was wrong cosmetically.

buck makes wood handled knives.
svord peasant knives can be had with wooden handles; the mini might not be too big for you.
the aitor 'castor' is a nice wood-handle folder.
