Need a Knife Recommendation

Hey everyone. I could use some advice on picking out a knife for my specific uses. I just got a floor manager position at a grocery store and I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting open of boxes, plastic containers, twine rope ect... I'm also a semi-bouncer, its not the best part of town and I'm going to be kicking out meat thieves and shoplifters, so having it double as self defense would be a plus but not super necessary. (I know its not good to pull a knife in a fight, but you never know) I need a recommendation on a good basic multi purpose knife, preferably one that is easily kept on my belt and can be pulled and holstered in a somewhat timely manner... I have a buck knife I used for a while but it was just so large, heavy and clumsy that it wasn't even worth using for these purposes. Thanks in advance guys!

I would say something in Spydercos line-up. Maybe an Endura, Delica, or Para2. You probably want a full flat grind (ffg). If your on a budget I recommend an Ontario Rat 1. I own one and it's awesome It will run you about $35.

I agree that either the Endura or Delica will probably do what you need it to do. Both come with Emerson openers, if rapid deployment is really an issue. You can also get some very high end steels on either. ZDP-189, for example, is also an option. (Cue the raging controversy over whether it is better to have a knife that holds an edge a very long time or one that doesn't but can easily be returned to its former grandure by scrubbing vigorously on the curb).

If budget is less of an issue, the Zero Tolerance 0777 M390 is an awesome option.

Cardboard?

I would stick to a flat grind.

Would also steer clear of thumb studs.

Three good choices for your work/edc knife are the Griptilian, the Buck Vantage, and the Endura. All are fine for the work you describe and all are great edc s. Good prices for quality knives.

The Endura Wave is a workhorse of a knife, you can't go wrong with it.
