Need a little education...Case 3,5" single bladed slipjoints :)

Hi folks,
I've been doing some research online but Case knives are a huge sea to sail and I'm afraid that I can only do it when I'm close to the coast (current production), while the open sea (discontinued patterns) is still a mystery to me.
So, here's the question, and I know you folks will educate me fast enough to make me smile and realize how much I still have to learn from this amazing group of people :)
I think I mentioned it somewhere else on this forum: I'm after a knife for one of my residents. We shared some talk about knives (I am, somehow, the "knifenut tutor" :D) and she said she was willing to get one for herself for when she goes hiking, camping and so on...and she asked for suggestions. I told her that I would pick a knife for her and it will be a gift (for the usual price of one Euro coin, of course ;)). I asked her a few questions, and now I'm on the hunt.
I'm going after a single (clip9 bladed SS Case slipjoint in the 3,5" range...and I have a few questions on the matter. As far as I know:
- the mini copperlock is only available in the locking version, and not in the slipjoint version;
- the mini copperhead Always has two blades (wharncliffe main, secondary pen);
- the single bladed mini trapper is only available with a wharncliffe blade;
So...I've come to the conclusion that the only shot I'm given (in the 3,5" size range) for a Case slipjoint with a single clip blade is the mini copperlock (or eventually a sodbuster jr.).
Am I wrong? :o
Thank you in advance for helping me out :)

Sod Buster Junior has a drop point blade.

Not in your criteria.... you might look at a Canoe.... or maybe a single blade sow belly.

Thanks Tom.
Yeah, I know the sodbuster isn't exactly a clip, but it could work for her.
The canoe has two blades, and the sowbelly is too big......

Its larger than your stated size but a slimline trapper would otherwise fit the bill.

Very handy pattern for kitchen use as well.

The toothpick is a single bladed knife in your size range and a great little knife for the price. Clip pointed too!

Good idea! I hadn't thought about the mini toothpick :)
Any more suggestions? or feedback on my "analysis"? :p

Actually the peanut comes in a single bladed variant as well. I have a stag one I could send you if you'd like? It's in Case's trusharp stainless, sharpened and used but in good nick.

The peanut is too small for her...I made her try a few knives I casually :p had in my pockets and bag, and sizewise she picked the standard SAK...so that's why the requirements are quite strict :)
Anyway, thank you so much for your offer, very generous, and much appreciated :)

No worries mate, glad I could help. Let us know what you decide on.

Unless my premises are wrong (which is widely possible, of course :D) I assume I will start looking for a mini copperlock, and maybe get a black or blue one, if I can find one.
She's not really a manly girl, she's cute, even...but she's from the inner part of the Island so a pink knife wouldn't suit her :D

Not the toothpick? I though you didn't want a locking blade. Ah well I'm sure she'll love whatever you get her.

How about the Teardrop Jack, single blade in Amber Jigged bone. Slim & light within your size requirements.

Fausto, it's a surprisingly hard task finding a CASE single-blade in that size.:confused: I once saw a Sowbelly that had been converted to single but that won't count.

Here's my Sodbuster in Chestnut Bone cv. There are others such as Amber Bone and Purple Jig Bone Sodbusters in stainless at the moment.

Here's my Pocket worn Red Mini Copperlock from the end of the last century. You get a good blade, easy to open and close and a LOT of scales option. It is rather a thin knife though but that can be welcome too.

Finally, you should think about the Slimline Trapper. Yes it's a bit bigger but in Barehead form it's lightweight, nice long slim blade for foodstuffs. Yellow delrin or this jigged brown delrin, also in blue in the American Workman series, even G-10 black and it looks very smart in that. Regards, Will

There might be a few single-blade Saddlehorns out there (pattern TB61110). Not in the current Case lineup, but still some N.I.B. stock around. In particular, I'm seeing a genuine horn-handled version (pattern TBBH1110 SS) on the 'auction site'. Here's a pic (single clip blade, 3.5" closed):

That Saddlehorn looks very interesting, thought they only came as a double blade. Good suggestion.

Thanks folks!
As for the toothpick and the teardrop jack, they're great suggestions but neither catches my eye...I know the knife is not for myself, but I want to apply some personal taste :p
Great call on the saddlehorn David! I had no idea that Case had produced one...too far from my coastline I suppose :D
