Hey,
I passed on this one today, but bought 3 others. Can anyone identify this head? It says #600 below the poll, no other marks to be found.

Any history on this one, "Old Faithful, Warren Axe" it's a boys pattern... any info on this head would be appreciated.

Then a Plumbs boy's axe and a 4 lb. Plumb

Now the fun begins, tinkering on these.

The 600 means 600 grams. It is a German pattern. Likely a Helko, there were also (fewer) some German made Sandvik pieces and probably Oxhead pieces in this pattern. There were also some Chinese knock offs.

The "Old Faithful" line from Warren is sought after. A great find!

Should I clean up the poll on the old faithful and polish up the head, or not?

This is where there are differing opinions. Only you can decide your taste. I prefer just removing the rust. I try to preserve the patina. A good way is with a wire wheel on an angle grinder. Some people make an axehead shiny, even shinier than it left the factory. It's up to you, no real big economic value monetarily either way. Filing off the mushrooming is something I usually do unless it's minor. Then I just leave it.

This is all just my taste, ymmv. Nice axes, btw
