What I'm looking for are the specific acceptable ranges of elemental content in different knife steels. For example, AUS8 would have x%-x% carbon, x%-x% chromium, x%-x% vanadium, etc.

I'm using the information to compile a special calibration library in an optical emission spectrometer to do analysis on unknown knife steels. The nominal values aren't so hard to find, but actual acceptability ranges are. I figure there's gotta be some metallurgist-types out there who can shed some light on this. Most of my knowledge of elemental composition is limited to steels used in petrochemical process; 304, 316, 321, 347, etc. Thanks! :D

He's looking for chemistry ranges which sometimes are hard to find. The www.suppliersonline.com website is good for that.Foreign steels will be more of a problem ! If you can't find specific ones ask me.

Thanks, mete. I ran across that site a long time ago, and never could seem to find it again. They should have most of what I'm looking for. If I could send you some greenies, I would. :D
