Need a little help

I received my new Becker BKT-11CSM today. The sheath that came with it, doesn't look like it belongs to this knife. It's shaped like it is made for a tanto style blade. Also the knife won't go all the way into the sheath. I'm afraid that if I force it in, I'll never get it back out.
I ordered some micarta grip panels for it, that also don't fit. Is it normal to have to re-shape them, to make them fit? The center raised portion of the grips, don't go into the holes in the knife, and the holes in the grips for the bolts, will have to be drilled out, to let the bolts go in. The grips are slightly larger on the outside of the grips, and stick out beyond the edges of the knife grip, but that part doesn't bother me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
EarlFH

My BK14 sheath also looks like it's for a Tanto, but goes in easy. Both knives are the same blade. Sound like you have the correct sheath.
I don't know about the handles, don't have them.

I have the same knife and scales, so for once I think I might be able to help here...

The BK11 CSM is made a little differently than the standard BK11. It is a little tighter clicking into the sheath. You will be able to get it out again. The sheath looks tanto style, but it is how all BK11, BK14 and BK11CSM sheaths are. They are all identical.

As for the scales, have fun. They fit on the BK11 just fine, but since the BK11CSM isn't made using the same machinery, the fit isn't quite right. You will need to trim down the cutouts a bit to get it to fit. It took me about 30 minutes. Go slow. Watch your fingers. A small file might really help. I just used the BK11CSM for the job.

What you describe is perfectly normal. The problems with the fit of the sheath and the scales all rest in the fact that the BK11 and BK11CSM are made in different factories (different countries) and the BK11CSM is just a little... off. Once you get the scales on, you should be quite happy with the knife.

As to the sheath, that is normal. It goes in hard and comes out hard, it'll loosen up with time. A couple weeks or so.

I had a pair of those Micarta grips and really liked them a lot. The only challenge I had was getting the nuts to fully seat at the bottoms of their holes. They did overlap the tang of the knife a little and I liked that.
Did you try using the allen wrench to screw to hex cap screws up into the micarta?

Put pics up if you can so we can see the problem.

Thanks guys. You have answered my questions. Now that I know that it's normal, I'll go ahead, and start filing them to fit the holes in the grip frame. I can get the bolts to thread themselves into the grips. I think I like the grips to overlap the grip frame, also.
I'll put up some pics, as soon as I finish the job. That's if I don't destroy them in the process. Thanks for your sugestions.:D

Glad you found some help here but I would still like to see what you got going on before you start moding things.

I'm not going to be doing anything with it until tomorrow. I'll try to get some pics up in the morning.

Her is the pic of my BK11-CSM that I promised. The problem is that the raised center sections on the inside of the scales, shown on the scale on the right side of the pic, are just slightly too big to fit the holes in the grip frame. I've just got to trim a little off of the circumfrence of each raised section, and they should fit fine. I've got a set of small files that should work fine.
I'll put up a pic of the finished product, when I'm through with it.

OK guys. Here's the finished product. It took about 2 hours of gentle filing, and fitting, over, and over, while watching "SONS OF GUNS". The shot of the bottom of the knife, looks like the grip is not tight against the tang, but it's just the angle I shot the pic from. I was loosing daylight, and didn't have time to reshoot the pic. The orange stuff I used to prop up the knife, is just the tools I was using to fit the scales.
