The Tops knives I have handled tend to be a bit thick in the grind, which detracts from their performance as cutters.
Seems like the RMD will handle anything those other two will. Swamprat makes a great knife! One of the best for the price point.
The ESSE's are right there too. I feel their price point and warranty make them hard to beat. I do believe you will get a bit more performance out of the Swamprat steel, than the ESSE's 1095. The SR101 from swaprat (modified 52100 ...... great stuff). ESSE's are a solid user, for a great price, with an unbeatable warranty. I tend to feel that the handles are not quite as comfortable as you will find the Swamprat's to be. The handle slabs tend to be a bit blocky. But that is easy to fix if you have some time and strips of sandpaper.
Fallkniven makes a completely different style of knife in my opinion. They have a great following, and have some very pretty knives when you are talking about their stacked leather satin finish, with convex grinds. A lot of people love their Krayton handles, but after 10+ years of using knives with krayton, I tend not to be satisfied with it any more.
I tend to shy away from Krayton handles. I feel it causes blisters and hot spots/skin abrasions under extended use. It is also much more susceptible to heat and chemical damage and cutting/splitting when dropped or hit by accident. (But I love Swamprat, Scrapyard, Busse that use Resiprine C....Way better, more durable stuff than Krayton. Superior in every way).
What are you looking for performance wise? Something bigger? or Smaller than the RMD?
If you are looking for something in the same size range. Look at Scrapyard SYCO 511. It is Sr101 with a Resiprine C handle. Excellent price point! The only concern would be the handle. If you have monstrous hands, it might not fit.
Take a look at the Busse/Swamprat/Scrapyard Exchange subforum here on Bladeforums. Get an idea of what is out there. The scrapyard's and Swamprat and Busse offerings typically go for more on the secondary market than they do if you get them direct while they are offered (that is why the SYCO 511 is such a bargain to me right now).
I own mostly Busse as my go to knives right now. But I think the Scrapyard and Swamprat knives sure do take the cake in the price to value market!
