So to keep it short and sweet i want a cordless high torque impact gun.

my best friend has a snap on 1/2 inch 18v and its great but so over priced for what you get.

these are the two im looking at now

the milwaukee is a little less powerful but i get 2 batteries and htey have alot more options for other m18 powered tools where i can interchange the battery

the IR is litterally the most powerful 1/2" impact on the market. and it has alot of other tools as well but not quiet the selection milwaukee has

i do work on cars alot, everything from oil changes to motor swaps. me and my friends are usually tearing down something. i was wondering if anyone had experience with either to help my decision.

they do both cost the same and the only difference is ir has the power milwaukee has bonus battery and a little more versatility in the other tool options

thanks guys

Based on reviews, I would be inclined to go with the IR. I have a friend who has used the Milwaukee, he liked it & was amazed at how many tires, & bolts it would remove on one battery/charge but the power difference (if accurate) is substantial. 475 vs 780 !!!

yeah thats what i was thinking also. i have spent way too much time watching videos and reading review on the IR

all my friends swear by SO tools but im no professional mechanic. one of the biggest bonus's with snap on tools is the snap on truck is at the shop 1-2 times a week so you can deal with their awesome warranty. if they buy other brands even though the warranty is there it is a larger inconvenience for them

ill post some pics and make a quick review when i get it

I got a snap on and i love it.

i use alot of the other tools that take the same battery.

if i did not use it much i would go electric, these are under a $100 here used/pawn shops.

A lot of the impact guns, screwguns, and drills today are nothing like they used to be.
Now it's all chinese plastic.

*sigh* but the new Ryobi in my garage is pretty nice

I have the ir. they have a special now for a limited time. If you buy the tool ad battery you send in and they give you a free battery. It's really powerful, I got it to bring on trips where my 2135 QTi couldn't come. Working in a garage I loved my to max, so the new ir was a no brainer. I got the boot to go with it too. It's more powerful than the snappy.

i like milwaukee and dewalt products. i have used ingersol rand, snap on and makita. snap on brand always seemed super heavy, the makita seemed be weak and ingersol rand tends to have issues with their batterys. milwaukee and dewalt and can be found on tool trucks, online and in your local home depot. so its easier on the wallet and easier to find. don't have to wait on some tool truck guy, though some tool truck guys are great and some not so much.

Never had issues with the ir 3/8 I used in the shop. And that thin fell from 4' off the cart daily, multiple times lol. It was the type you twist in, not the straight on kind like my 7150. I've used that gun on everything, down to the plastic caps that go onto some lug nuts. It had a very easy to control trigger, so using as much or as little power as you need is easy. It can snug down or it can flip your car over. Your choice.

i ended up with the ingersol rand, tested it out installing a 6" lift on my buddies king ranch f250... it was alot more impressive than i had expected. on half battery it was performing about neck and neck with my buddies snap on 1/2". when we fully charged it made easy work out of the lift project.

i was very happy.

i will post pictures tomorrow

Traditionally IR made very good air tools, I'm guessing that they have someone else make their electric tools. My dad's garage used CP air tools almost exclusively and they were very durable, but he had a 3/8" drive IR that worked well.

I think all of the cordless tools are questionable, I have had the best luck with Dewalt myself so that is what I would buy.

If I wanted an impact for very much use I would buy an air tool, a good one will last a long time under constant use.

I have both but find myself using my cordless more. More convenient, quieter. If I'm doin dirty work under a truck or in snow or rain ill use my air impact. Plus, if I have to do a favor for someone, cordless is the only way.

i do alot of normal maintenance work, brakes tire rotations with oil changes. most use my air tools see is when i do brakes at my house for family or etc.

i work on my own car but nothing that really call the need for air tools. and im never time constrained so much so i usually dont go getting the air ratchet out to get a few 10mm's off. its honestly going to be 95% for just yanking tires off. in a week me and my buddy need to get his lift in his truck so im sure it will see use there. the one bolt is 410 ft/lbs i suppose we will see then if the snap on/ IR or the 3/4" air impact will have the balls

all in all i love it so far. alot lighter and less cubersom than other battery impacts i have used. and after a double blow out in the commuter civic i drive it was nice to have proper tools in dress clothes on the side of 80 changing a tire... lol
