I want a new boot knife! i haven't really given much thought to it yet just thought i'd see what you guys are using and go from there. i want something double edged and good quality. not worried about price at this point just want to see whats out there that is performing well! any suggestions, tips and reasons why you like a particular knife would be appreciated thanks

I have a Boker Applegate-Fairbairn boot knife that is pretty sweet. It took me a hell of a long time to reprofile the blade to 40 degrees, though, and the sheath could be better (the knife was rattling in it before I boiled the sheath to shrink it down, and retention is just okay). Despite the issues, the knife is unmatched as a small fighting dagger, and can even be worn as a neck knife.

The Zero Tolerance 150 looks badass.

I agree with CharlieMike, the ZT boot knife does look pretty frickin badass.
I have a SOG Mini Pentagon on the way from someone here, and I already know I like it because I used to have one but lost it... The full-size might suit you better, especially if you can find one of the older Japanese ones (they're nicer, IMO).
Also, there's a double-edged "Puma" boot knife floating around the interwebz these days, but I don't know if it's actually a Puma, or if it's a knockoff. I have one of those on the way, too (well maybe accidentally two of them). Looks nice enough, though, and super inexpensive. Full tang, charcoal colored wood handles, double edge... I'll let you know how it is when it arrives.
The AG Russell Sting is pretty great as well.

Cold Steel makes some great boot knives.

Brave Heart
Safe Makers/Keepers
Counter Tacs
A lot of their folders make good boot knives as well.

I've been kicking the boot knife idea around for a while now as well. Kershaw makes a pretty cool one; I think it's called the Military Boot Knife. The AG Russell/CRKT Sting is another contender. That Zero Tolerance is, I believe, a bit on the pricey side for me. Something with the 80s boot knife look would be cool.

I have been looking at the fallkniven garm g-1. It seems pretty badass. I don't have one yet though.

I've be carrying a Buck 102 in a Kydex sheath lashed to my boot for over 15 years. It's inexpensive, light, sharp and doesn't scare the wimmin-folk if they get a peek at it.

Gryphon M10. Shown w/ G-clip attached, but I wear it with the Blade-tech IWB loop that's also included. It's not double edged, but the spear point and overall look screams boot dagger. It's definately a better slicer than the ZT 0150 and just utility in general without sacrificing much cool factor or any function.

lots of nice knives! exactly what i was hoping to get out of this thread! so far i am really liking the cold steel counter tac 1! thanks for all the replys and keep the ideas coming!

Extrema Ratio Pugio FTW!!

the Pugio doesn't have much of a blade guard if that's an issue? the ole' boot knife has a blade pretty well set up for stabbing, and my gut feeling tells me if you hit something hard, the guard couldn't hurt. my favorite boot knife that has a real 80's flavor is the gerber Mk1... may be a little harder to find, but the internet is pretty amazing and they're bulletproof. and i believe the older ones were made of L6. i carried one for years and never got bored of playing with it.

The Gryphon m10 most likely has the strongest tip of all the knives mentioned. The M10 definitely has the best and most compact setup. But there are a couple other honorable mentions.

The Counter Tac I and II and Gerber Mark I are my other favorites. Then probably the Kersaw Mil and ZT0150.

The Kershaw, while very nice, is thinner at the tip than a steak knife because of the false edge. Very prone to breakage just like the Gerber Mark I. Major con yes but they are also some of my favorites.

Don't forget the push dags.

Note: not my picture, I pulled it from google images

I've loved the Gerber Mark 1 ever since I saw Big trouble in little china when I was a kid. I'll eventually buy it one of these days.
