I'm a longtime lurker and have recently felt the need to get another EDC. Right now I carry the Benchmade 580 barrage. I like it's size, sturdiness and the Axis-Assist lock. I don't like the slippery handle or the lack of jimping. Below is what I'm looking for:

- Blade 3-4"
- Grippy handles
- Jimping on the back of handle/blade
- Tip up carry
- Would like a choil for ease of sharpening and ability to "choke up" when needed
- Opening mechanisms isn't too important as long as I can easily open it one handed
- Price range up to $125, maybe $150 (would prefer under $100)
- Use will be for normal, everyday tasks. No hard use

Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

I've definitely looked at the Paramilitary 2. But they seem to be pretty hard to find at a decent cost! Another reason, which I'm afraid to admit, is that I think they're are a bit ugly! I know looks has nothing to do with performance but I don't like dropping $100+ on a knife I think is ugly!

PM2, S30V Kershaw Blur, ZT0350.

Your requirements seem like a description for the Para-Military 2.
i just picked one up today...excellent F&F...was not interested in one until i handled one for a while, and learned a bit about how the compression lock is different from a liner lock..

seems wrong to suggest PM2 when OP said he likes Axis-Assist lock, unless he doesn't really mean it.

The ZT0350 is an awesome looking knife. Will definitely think about that one!

I'm stuck on my mini grip right now. It would be about the same size as your barrage. Picked one up at a local gun shop for $85.

I just saw that one when I was looking at the 0350 today. Great looking knife and I like that it doesn't have a recurve, much easier to sharpen. Thinking it might be between that and the PM2.

in that case, have you looked at ZT 0566?
