hey guys I recently lost my edc of 3 years it was a kershaw rj I with g10 open assist all that good stuff. It wasn’t an expensive knife but it was just about perfect for me and I can’t find them anywhere. I’d like to replace it

I got my wife a clash which is nice and the open assist is incredible but I can’t stand the nylon grip. I feel like I would never be able to get tough jobs done.

So if you have any recommendations for the under $25-40 range I’d love to hear it.

I’m looking for a blade length over 3”
Assisted opening(preferably flipper) and decent scales(preferably g10)

Thanks in advance!

How about a Kershaw Thermite? A/O flipper with a G10 front scale and SS framelock on the back. You can find 'em for right around $22 pretty easily.

:) Welcome ! I love my Kershaw Emerson CQC-4KXL . Has a nice big 4" blade . But not AO or a flipper . Kershaw should have a ton of exactly that type . Get USA made ones if you can . Better QC . For the China built be sure to read the negative reviews . Mine came from China and is perfect but some models have problems .

Welcome to the forums! At that price range, Kershaw is still your best bet.

Kershaw Thermite NOTE: there is a few different options + it's even on sale

Kershaw Al Mar AM-5
Kershaw Vedder
Steel Will Cutjack Mini - not G10 but the handles are grippy and you get D2 blade steel.

Not a flipper and not G10 handles but if you look at the Ontario Rat 1 in Aus 8 (under $30) or the D2 version (might run a few dollars over $40 with shipping) is a great option.

I'd check out the Kershaw scrambler while you're at it.

It's like a non-tanto version of the termite, with IMO better ergos and plain ol' better looking knife.
It's also an RJ Martin design.

Kershaw link. 3.25" blade ao flipper, gfn or aluminum handles, $35-$45.
I don't have one but alot people here seem to love them. They come in different blade shapes and colors as well.

I have all three of these folders...have had multiple RAT 1's and 2's. All are great folders.

In this price range, my choice would be an Ontario Rat folder in D2. The Rat 1 is the one I have and currently available, but the Rat 2 is a bit smaller and should be released by Ontario sometime early this year. These are fantastic tough, slicing blades with long edge retention for the $. And the quality of the build--the lockup, no blade play, etc--is also quite good. This of course is not assisted opening, so it doesn't meet that spec.
