Need a new fixed blade

Hey there,

I want to find a new fixed blade knife. I used to have a strider MT, but it was way to big so I sold it. I have been looking around online, but can't find anything that really catches my eye. I really like ESEE's knives but need something more corrosion resistant than 1095 steel. Maybe y'all can help me.

Specs I am looking for:

Steel: Stainless preferably; S30V or similar. I spend alot of time around saltwater on my boat and would like for it to be resistant to the elements. This is my main concern

Length: Not really a factor, just not too small or large.

Handles/ Scales: G-10

Budget: $120-$160

I really want a knife that can be stand up to "heavy use" or a survival type situation if the need arises. Not that I plan to abuse the knife.

Thanks

Closest I can think of to what you want is the Entrek Javalina. Its stainless (440C) and is in your price range. Ray makes on heck of a knife and he knows exactly how to make the most of the 440C steel he uses. But the scales will be micarta.

Check out Matt Caldwell 1-4 or 1-5.
Nice knives in 154cm with great handles.
The 1-4 is a favorite of mine.

I'm looking into the Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter. I really like the lines on it, and the fact that the steel is S30V. I know its technically a "bushcraft knife", but it will get some good use on the boat and in the woods. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the color of the G-10.

ESEE stainless models are starting to hit the shelves soon so that is an option. You also might want to look at the reasonably priced custom knives from Dogwood Custom Knives. He is on here and has several fixed blades in stainless at very reasonable prices. We carry a few of his. If you have questions shoot me a PM. Good luck in your search!

I live in deep southeast texas where we constantly have 100% humidity. I'm only 40 minutes from the coast. All my fixed blades are esee's. the powder coating the use is extremely durable. With only the edge prone to corrosion I've had very little spotting on mine. A few passes on a strop am some oil after use I've had zero issues. Plus you can't beat their warranty. I'd not overlook these knives. Excellent bang for you buck.

Edit to add: I know this isnt a fixed blade but for boat duties pick up a spyderco salt series knife and get a good fixed blade for mainland duties.
