Need a New Job

man i'm sick of the restaurant business, anyone looking for a fulltime shop rat? i'll do all the hand sanding, stoke the fires, carry the coal, clean up the dust, do all the non fun stuff for ya!

Heck Mike, I've seen you work in my shop, I'd hire you in a minute. Of course you'd make the same as Tess pays me...room & board.

If you find someone, you can use me as a reference.

I had a very good friend who was a baker, he hated his career and did'nt know what else he'd be good at, I told him look in to chemical and pharaceutical industries, they use similar methods and equipment, fast forward 10 years and he's in the drug buisness working for J&J as a batch master.

Hey Mike, I'll be starting a charcoal/compost business untill the supply is gone. May also have my hand in scrape steel to.

You got alot of years plus you got a good head on your shoulders. Don't worry things will change many times in your lifetime.

Mike, remember when I told you I talked my daughter out of attending J&W for culinary? Now she holds a BA in history, and is a stay at home mom. She has 7 huskies, and loves every one of them.

My son did Wentworth in Boston for 2 years, and finished here at NHTI for computer science. Now he is an electrician, and loves it.

Its funny how life will change right under your nose, and you can only follow it... your nose, I mean.

Think of what you are good at that also makes you happy, and THAT's what you need to do.

Mike start out making chef knives for money and sell them to other restaurants

you know what should be used and wanted.. you have a niche
...you work in a restaurant,,
that would be the catch-all for other restaurant supply buyers and butcher shops, there are hundreds of them out there and offer sharpening for them too.
loan or give them a knife to use to prove them and yourself
you know what's being bought and used now right?
sell your knives and yourself to them....
go go go man :thumbup:
