I'm flying out to Florida in a month and I need a new backpack. I want to carry the pack with me into the plane (carry-on). I want to take the largest pack possible. Was thinking of a Maxpedtion pack, but all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

in descending order of $$$-ness, I'm a fan of Mystery Ranch, Kifaru, Triple Aught Design, and Oakley packs :) i like Maxpedition bags too, but for the most part they're too small for me and kind of uncomfortable

I was recently looking for a do-all pack. I wanted something that could function as a airplane carry-on, for commuting, touristy stuff, day hikes, light overnights, and as a BoB. I ended up getting a Marmot Aspen 35L. The internal supports are removeable and there is an expandable spindrift collar. The pack is utterly untactical, since I wanted it to be discreet. I think I paid less than $100 for it. I believe it is intended to be a winter day hike or skiing pack, but it will serve for all of the functions I listed above.

I was in the same boat not to long ago. I just took a trip to Alaska for a few weeks and needed a day pack plus i didn't want to deal with a bunch of luggage so i got a larger day pack. I settled on an Osprey Stratos 36. I liked it because there was good ventilation, several entry points to the main compartment, had water bladder storage and an integrated rain cover.

Edit: It also fits into the overhead bin fully loaded.

Good luck in your search.

Take a look at the 5.11 Rush 24. It's big, and has an amazing amount of organization. I wish all bags were organized as well.

I have the DOPPELDUFFEL from max. It's carry-on-able, it has exceeded my expectations.... Only complaint is I ordered foliage green and its not my favorite color choice once I got it...used it 4 or 5 times now still in great condition... even with a full plane and required bag checking...held up to delta goons! :)

Thank you everyone for the great choices. I will be going with this bag "FLIEGERDUFFEL Adventure Bag" it's rated FAA approved for carry-on and Maxpedition is a couple of miles away from me so it will take only one day for delivery.
