Need a nice high quality filet knife...

Mora makes nice filet knives in Sandvik Stainless that are also very reasonably priced. A good place to see two or three models is at Ragweedforge.com.

In addition, I'd recommend the Helle Fiskekniv which is $39 bucks, Sandvik. I have the Tollekniv which is the same thing in a more general purpose patern...same handle and this thing is so sharp it is scary. Basic, no nonsense knives that are much higher quality than the ubiquitous Martiini filet knives that you see at Wal-Mart...and yet in that same tradition. Also at Ragweedforge.com.

Jarvenpaa has some very nice filet knives as well...same site.

Fishing is key to life in Scandinavia. All of these same companies also have other fishing knives of various patterns. Knives and cutlery seem to be as much a part of Scandinavian and Finnish culture as what we think of in Japan...and their products show that.

Ragweedforge's website is somewhat rudimentary but I have purchased probably $1,000 worth of knives from this place and shipping is fast and customer server is the best you'll ever see online.

(I am not affiliated with this enterprise whatsoever...just a very satisfied customer with product and service).
