Folks, while researching some specs for a fellow Dog on the original Tali-whacker I came across a blade called
The "Skunk Slayer". It is supposed to be a Ergo Battle Mistress.
I am known as SkunkHunter over in the yard and was just curious as to what this blade looked like.

Just some background, I came by that name because we had a BAD skunk Problem in our two block area one summer (I killed 9 or 10 all by myself) and another 6 were killed by the city and other residents.

Any way, thanks for anything you can provide.

I wouldnt want to get that close to a skunk to kill it. I'd use my RWS 460 pellet gun. Legal, quiet, and I shoots a .22 pellet over 900fps. Most pellet guns would get the job done. Sorry I don't have an answer to your Busse question. Thats pretty gnarley of you to kill skunks with a knife, if thats how you did it.

Sorry, I guess I should have said I used my RWS Diana 45 .177 pellet RIFLE. Longest shot was about 25 yards to the back of the head. Closest shot about about 15 feet.

Search is your friend. ;)

I've killed many a skunk runnin a trapline as a teenager, i prefer 12 guage with no6 shot. They dont even spray.

Hehe, if you hit them right in the head they don't spray either. I only had one to spray and it was just a little bit. Hardly smelled at all. I LOVE big game hunting in the city! Even if the city only has 1300 people.;)

That is a sweet Blade. Completely forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Cool knife, I really dig it

You guys got it all wrong. I successfully skunk whispered one out of my ground squirrel trap yesterday as well as maybe three or four from my large, raccoon sized live trap over the last few months, without being sprayed.

Skunks aren't immune to their own spray, they don't like it any more than anything else and are reluctant to use it unless they have to. As you can see, I have to get extremely close to undo the latches on the squirrel trap. Now, I'm in a unique situation, my house, where I have the traps set, is also a restaurant, so I can't chance the skunks spraying. I shot the only other one that got into the squirrel trap and it sprayed, plus I think they're cute and they remind me of the ferrets I used to have.

I used a 'nanner to lull the little guy in the trap yesterday. I used to trap for a pest control company I worked for and we would always use bananas for skunk bait. Skunks are incredibly smart, once I fed him and earned his trust a little, he let me work at the trap. He seemed like an older skunk, his white was a lot more yellow than most skunks.

Watching skunks move reminds me a lot of the way lion fish and blowfish move. I did a lot of diving when I was in Okinawa and lion fish, in particular, are incredibly easy to photograph because they know everything else knows if they touch them, they die. Very slow, very deliberate, they don't move fast for anything, just like a skunk walking around.

I need to learn how to make youtube videos... either I get the skunk out and it's cool, or I get sprayed and it's funny, everybody wins, right?

Watching skunks interact with other animals is fascinating. You can learn a lot by watching how other animals move when a skunk is around.

Right on! you might want to try a disposable- or less valued camera in case of option#2. :)

Thanks, I actually have a video I took of that lion fish swimming, I'll see what I need to do to join the youtubes and get it posted. Yeah, they would be pretty funny videos, I talk to the skunks and tell them to be good and stuff and occasionally something will happen outside of my control () and I do get sprayed. I want to make some chopping videos most of all though, I'm out there chopping at my log just about every day, might as well...

LIVE trap and releasing skunks! YOU DA MAN!

The problem in our area is people's pets. Ours got sprayed, along with three other houses and pets. The city was gonna use a .410 (they did on three and they all three left an awful stench). MY shots were all to the head and most were just about or after dark. I got thee in one setting getting into a lady's trash one night.

Did the ones you shot spray?
