Any of my Buck Buddies got a picture of a #405 "King of Bucks" apparently made in 2008. Thanks guys. g

I'll be happy with a description from someone that knows for sure what it looks like. Thanks again. g

Thanks Mike. I thought google would have snagged a picture from somewhere but didn't. I appreciate you taking the time. g

Gordon,

Take a look at post #10 of the Picture thread!

Yeah, jb, looks like the same knife, different scales, 2001 production...
Chuck Buck Signature, 405...

Not the 405 you're thinking of g?

Your right Mike,

This is not the "king of Bucks" 405 that Gordon is asking about. However, it is what a stag 405 will look like. I should also note, The "King of Bucks" 405 was a limited edition for BPS or Cabelas. The "king of Bucks" knife was a stag 405 with a wood box, the wood box had the information on the world record Whitetailed deer, that record Deer is known as the "King of Bucks"

I believe that it was offered by BPS. If I remember correctlly I saw one in a store earllyer this year. HL

I was asking about the "King of Bucks."
I assumed it was ATS-34 but that remains to be seen.
I'll go look at Pic#10 John.

Gordon, Looks like the "405 King of Bucks" is listed on the Web Specials page (no photo yet). Stag with ATS-134...

Hey thanks Mike.
I bought it off the list and have it with the collection already. Nice piece. I really appreciate you remembering I was looking at this one. JB thinks it looks like a steak knive so that what I call it now...my fancy steak knife:)
Here's the one I got:

I just ordered one but I don't think it's the "real King of Bucks" The description says:

"This knife was modeled after the 2001 Chuck Buck Signature knife. This custom 405 knife is a rare find with its Sanbar Stag handle and heavy-duty, high-end ATS-34 steel."

That's fine with me.:)

G, That's a great looking knife, glad you found one...

Last week I pulled a couple of old 102's out of the cabinet for my wife and I to use as steak knives... she rolled her eyes but later commented that they were sharper and cut nicer than the junk serrated knives we usually use.

I just pulled it out and ya know it would be make a real fine steak knife.
I ought to get another so the wife has one too. :)

Seriously, in looking the blade I just noticed that the tang is a mirror finish and the rest of the blade looks like a satin buff job got put on top a mirror finish. Go figure!!

Well that caused me to pull my old pre-86 102 out look at it as a steak knife. What a perfect size for a steak knife. Mike I believe you just put everybody onto a new idea!!

Is that the 102 you're looking at? I've noticed the same thing on many of my 100 series knives. I assume that after the knife was assembled they buffed up the handle and face of the guard and ended up buffing that choil area of the blade at the same time.

Edit.... G, looks like we were posting at the same time... I see quite a few 102's on the bay, could put together a nice set of steak knives for not too much moolah.

That is exactly what I'm thinking. The old Henkels are beat to heck. Maybe it's time to upgrade Buck style. g

Our web provider dropped the ball last night on loading the pics, they are fixing as we speak. sorry for the delay

now that is real dang good DATA JB! not onions at all!

again this is Real DATA!!
but on this one vs the other one i reserve the following comments:
i think it it will NOT be in any documents with the knife and
will dissipate from the web site with no record of it!!
to maintain its stasis as Hard DATA it should be printed out
and dated and anointed as from bucks website!!
if 20 years from now some one remembers this as some thing they read
it wont be data rather jest another onion good enough to be used to wag...
as a hand written dated note on this With Details it is what i call
"soft" data which is good enough to be a guide line source data..

buck has an engernering quality person who's
sig line was "with out data it is jest another opinion"
and i do believe i like his style and
hay if you read this join in on what you feel is DATA..
now as to why i say onion vs opinion
well opinions are like parts of a person which in most stink
well onions smell strong and have layers so i use that
allusion rather then nav speak
