Need a recommendation for soft handle?

Hey guys! I need a recommendation for a new EDC knife. I've had a BM 710 that I've carried everyday for the last couple years. However, recently I got a new Droid smart phone, that I also carry in my right front pocket (same pocket that I use for the 710) This has led to my phone getting pretty scratched up from the handle. I've tried carrying the knife clipped in my left pocket, or even rear pocket, but it's just not as comfortable for me. I know I could probably get a case for the phone, but I really don't want to add any bulk to it. Do you have any recommendations for a good EDC with a softer handle? Something a little smaller than the 710 might be ideal.

Thanks!

I've never owned one so I cant be possitive but I think FRN handles are softer so prehaps a spyderco endura 4 or for something smaller a delica 4

I would just recommend getting a leather case for your phone. I have the same phone and it WILL get beat up no matter what knife you end up getting. Either that or carry your phone in the opposite pocket that your knife is in (which is what I do).

RFP - Wallet/Main knife
LFP - Phone/Embassy Pen/Dual Tip Sharpie
RBP - Empty
LBP - Empty
Coin Pocket - 2nd small EDC

Thanks for the replies guys! I might have to try switching up which pocket I carry the phone it, but I think it would be pretty hard to change at this point since I've been carrying the same way for like 10 years now. But I am considering just getting an ottercase for the phone, they are pretty indestructible!

Or, you can carry the knife in a pouch. Doesn't all Benchmade knives come in a pouch from the factory?

It did come with a soft black pouch. However, that's not very useful when I'm trying to pull it out and open it one handed while up on a ladder or something.

Solution A: Don't carry your phone in the same pocket as your knife.
Solution B: Get a case for your phone. I use a hard shell type case on mine, which doesn't get in the way of using it one-handed. You should look into getting something like that.

Both of these options have served me well in the past.

Great call on the Otterbox case. They are some of the best cases around. Get yourself a pack of screen protectors also. I ended up putting some deep scratches on my old Blackberry when it was a couple months old. When I got my new phone, I swapped my phone to the other pocket.
