Need a replacement knife

Hi everyone. I'm new here (this is my first post) and I was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions. So because of my stupidity and lapse of attention, I lost my favorite knife, a Kershaw Tremor, to TSA. I realized that I still had it about 3 min after checking my luggage at the airport. So, as I mentioned, I liked the tremor a lot, but it wasn't perfect by any means. I have been looking for a new one for a while but just couldn't justify it with my trusty tremor by my side.

Here is what I'm looking for in a blade. First, and most importantly, It must be assisted opening (I would go with auto if only it was legal here ). Second, I liked the size and weight of my Tremor so I'm looking similar. Now what I would like improved on it are, I would like jimping(sp?) on the top part of the blade, and a more aggressive flipper/finger guard for a more secure grip. Lastly, I would like a fold over "Deep Cover" style pocket clip. I don't have and real preference in steel, however I am fairly rough on my knives (Boxes, very occasional rope, etc.) so it should have decent edge retention, however, this wont be an outdoor survival knife (at least not intentionally lol) so it wont be going up against branches and wood and such. I have seen several I like, including ZT 0560 and Combative Edge M1 but can't, for the life of me, figure out why they don't have an assisted opening.

If you guys can give me some options you know of, I would really appreciate it. price cap if $250 for a REALLY great knife, but would otherwise like to stay in the $100-150 range.

Thanks

The zt is a absolutly great knife and the reason it doesnt have the assist is because of the bearings around the pivot. They make it open so smooth and fast a spring would just be redundant. You could try the kershaw knockout ist a little smaller then the tremor but it is a flipper with the assisted opening it also has a slightly longer flipper to give a better guard its also got aluminum handles

how bout the Rake(3.5"), Piston(3.5") or Knockout(3.25")? The blade length is around what you are used to and they are assisted. I will also second the ZT350, and within your budget, you should be able to score a 300/301/303 if you want a real tank.

You should check out the zero tolerance 566, I'm not sure if its on the market yet but I think I has everything you're looking for.

Check out the Kershaw Piston or the Knockout. The Piston has a nice grip to it and I think you would like it. The Knockout is a framelock that does not weigh much for its size. Good Luck! Kevin :D

HTM DDR Gunhammer
Kershaw Rake - This would likely be my pick
Kershaw Knockout
Kershaw Piston
Kershaw Turbulence
Kershaw Shallot

A few of these don't have deep carry clips but you can get after market clips or just carry them as they are.

Ive recently been carrying a Benchmade Barrage 581 and i absolutely love it. Its not a flipper but it is assisted, it flies out super fast. I love the m390 steel too, holds an edge forever, youll be hard pressed to find another knife at the 150 dollar price point with a 3.6" m390 blade. It doesnt have a deep carry pocket clip but you can buy a titanium deep carry clip for about $7.

ZT 0350 or ZT 0300(1,3) would also be a couple of good choices. They don't have the deep carry clips but are awesome blades.

I just realized that the ZT 0300 is a speed safe. I always thought it wasn't. Though the blade is wider than I typically go for, I think I'm going to find one and see how I like it in my hands. I might even consider the 0350, but from what I've seen online, I think the 0300 is more to my liking. Too bad it doesn't come with the tiger stripe blade with black scales... oh well. Thanks for your input everyone!!!
