Ok so I'm looking for recommendations on a sheath maker. I want a better quality sheath for my Ultimate Fighter. I'm looking for a dark brown distressed leather sheath with removable backback like straps. So if you know a good sheath maker please let me know. Other than color I'm not sure exactly what I want the sheath to look like so someone with experience making khukuri sheaths would be best I think. I don't want to over pay but I'm looking for a really good quality sheath from a really good maker and I'm willing to pay the price to get this

Thanks
Eric

I also need a sheath. I live in a state that doesn't allow carrying a concealed knife, and a city that doesn't allow openly carrying a knife with a blade longer than 2". (That's right, two inches, it's not a typo.) Therefore, I need a sheath that will make my 18" Ultimate Fighter look like a teddy bear.

By the way, this 31 oz beast really isn't nimble enough to be a true fighter, unless it's wielded by a very large berserker. However, it would probably intimidate most potential adversaries, thus making a fight unnecessary. I gave my wife a scare when I first showed it to her, and this is a woman who often makes home visits to clients in neighborhoods that the police tend to avoid. Maybe I shouldn't have entered the room waving it in the air.

WildmanH is making one for my 18" UF. Maybe he'll put up some WIP pics and you can see what you think.

Also, I find mine to be VERY nimble. And I'm not a giant, by any stretch of the imagination (like 5'9" and 180). It's all in how you use it; it's a momentum weapon, much like a tomahawk. If you're used to a Ka-bar or something like that, it's gonna feel unwieldy. If you've used a sword, axe, etc, it's gonna feel pretty darn good.

Yea I also find mine to be a very nimble and I'm about the same size as you crimson, however mine comes in at only 1.5lbs(24oz).

Yea and I'd love to get some pics when yours is done

Thank for the reply

If you like distressed leather, and you like quality without over paying, I would suggest my friend NoahL, he is a leatherworker that works with JK knives, specializes in guilt-free horsehide leather and making sort of post-apocalyptic tooling and such (I hate to say it, but I am no great shakes at leather work terminology, but he is.), and will probably be able to do what you are asking. His site is called Wasteland Leatherworks, if you are interested. I bought a choker from him, and I recommend him. Peace.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm checking his site out now sounds like he could be kinda the style I'm looking for

Well I looked as his site and it wasn't exactly what I thought I was looking for.. but it is now. His stuff looks great I'm definitely gonna have him make me a sheath

You're welcome! Cool stuff! Update us with pictures when you get it made, if you want, because I bet you ANYTHING it will look like a million dollars. The last one he did in collaboration with a fellow named StormCrow was very fine, with a rich patina or ink, I'm not sure which. I feel kind of bad though, cause I feel like I steered EMcDannell away from WildmanH, and Heber is a cool dude, always inviting people to his undoubtedly fine get-togethers and combining two occupations I respect almost as much as I respect him as a person. I hope you can forgive me, Heber. Peace, everyone.
David.

Well I wouldn't necessarily say you steered me away. For this particular sheath yes I'm going with another maker. But if I like his work there are other knives in my collection I want different sheaths for so don't feel bad haha

True. Very true. Did not think of it quite like that...just goes to show how different my way of thinking is...but I do like knives, so thats at least one similarity I and everyone here shares. Well, peace.
David.

EMcDannell, there are lots of fine makers out there. Please keep us posted on the leather work. :) We always like seeing new pants. ;)

Herber and a couple of others here at the forum Chuddy Bear did a really nice one for my Falcata -- honest guys and great leather work

Looks like I'm going to have to wait for a sheath from wasteland leather. He is not currently taking new orders. So I guess ill have the knife made I want to go with this then have him make both sheaths
