When I saw this Wakizashi (http://www.japanische-schwert-galerie.de/pages/de/meisterklingen/die-klingen.php?action=more&id=28), I knew I would have to get it. Unfortunately its extremely expensive and way out of my reach. Im searching for a way to get one that looks similiar or to find a site that can custom build one that comes close. Of course the replica will not be able to compete with this beauty, but as long as it comes close Ill be happy. The replica has to be functional. I dont want to actually use it, but knowing that it is a real weapon and not just a wall-hanger is important to me. I cannot spend more than 1200 USD on it, thats my limit. Since Im fairly new to swords in general I cant seem to distinguish between "good" online shops or those that are not recommendable at all. Anything to help me find a way to get this replica would be very much appreciated. Or just tips on how to buy swords in general.
Thank you for your attention.

I found a well-run website with great sword info when researching a WWII katana offered to me to buy last year- It turned out to be an authentic Japanese army officer's sword made in 1937- and the site owner has a custom katana foundry/factory he created to counter all the cheap replicas and "sword-like objects" passed off as genuine. He takes very limited orders' but the swords are custom made to your specification and with as close to traditional methods as possible while staying in the $300 to $800 dollar price range. http://www.sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com.
Good Luck!!

I´ve come across this site a couple of days ago, but I wasnt sure if it was genuine. It sounds a bit too good to be true. Either way, I contacted them and Im looking forward to their response. I´ve had my eyes on this sword for 2 years now and I was finally able to put some money aside.

Do they provide a custom-sword-service? If thats the case then I will contact them as well.

I don't know if they do custom, but you could certainly get a really nice waki in your price range from them.

You might also be able to find a custom maker who could help you. Stuart Branson and Dan Keffeler come to mind.

Hmm. They do have nice wakizashi, but not really what im looking for. I will check if they could make a custom build that resembles the wakizashi Im looking for.

Because I dont want a genuine wakizashi.
Sadly, the sword-buyers-guide hasnt replied yet.
Any more recommendations?
