I'm looking for some of those little metal vials with the screw-top lids. I believe they are available in stainless or aluminum. It seems I've seen them on keyrings and pendants, and they appear to be intended for holding meds like nitro.

I thought I had seen them discussed in this forum before, but my searches turned up nothing useful.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Ryan Malpiede was selling spy capsules, which are pretty much what you are describing, but I don't know if he is still selling them.

Some of those containers were being discussed Here. There are links to different sources.

Hope this helps.

I bought a couple at Bark Bakery, which (I'm not kidding) is a bakery which caters exclusively to dogs. Apparently, pet oriented places sell them for people to put the dog's vital info into, and then put on a leash collar.

I also bought a couple from REI.

WOW! Thanks for all the responses, gang. I'm embarrassed by so many ideas- it makes it look like I hadn't tried very hard on my own.

I've bought climbing and dog gear from Bison as recently as last autumn, but I didn't remember seeing the tubes there. And, I just got an REI catalog yesterday, but haven't gone through it yet.

I suppose it would clarify what I'm looking for if I told you my intended purpose. I am finally tricking out my Springfield M6 to toss in my BOB. I am basically using the outside of the gun as storage for pre-cut lengths of paracord, and I am looking for useful stuff to stuff in the cutouts of the stock. Whatever I put there will be held in by more cord wrap.

Here are some of the possibilities:

One of the tiny leathermans.
Small SAK.
Fire starters such as Ferro rod, Chapstick tube of tinder, matchsafe.
Small LED light.
Additional ammo.
Small vial for emergency meds.
Small capsule containing emergency cash and/or I.D. info for when they find me dead from exposure, starvation and lyme disease. :p

Since whatever I put there will be a relative pain to get to afterwards, I'm leaning toward the latter three. Anything that might go there would also easily fit in my pocket kit, so redundant or seldom needed items are the best choices. I just want to get all of the candidates together for "trial fittings" and see what works best.

I would gratefully welcome other thoughts or suggestions. The holes I'm looking to fill are triangles about 1.5 and 2.5 inches or 4.5 and 6.5 cm at their longest dimension, and the stock itself is 5/8 inches or 1.5 cm wide. The smaller hole opens to a slightly larger cavity than the other. They are very irregular opennings, and rather awkward to get at, but hey- when ya got space, FILL IT!:D

Rick- I love cigar tubes, but you can see they're a little too big for this application.

Flotsam- Can you give me some VERY exact dimensions for the extras you have?

Thanks again everyone, for past and future help. :)
