Im looking for a knife to buy 2 knives for my step dad and uncle to say thanks for all they have done for me lately. They are both truck driver one delivers food and the other roofing supplies so they open alot of boxes. I am looking for a knife that is 2 folders that are less that 4 inch and no more than $75 each and can handle mild abuse and has good edge retention cause they don't know how to keep blades sharp or oiled. My step dad has an old cheap replica of a Buck 110 that is dull from the day he got it. Also need to be a manual action.

The Kershaw JunkYardDog is a great folder. I just bought 3 blems for $55 each. Sharpest factory edge I've ever had, and I've had at least 50 or more folders.
I got them from Dave (Kershawguy) @ this link: He's a paying member/dealer here:
Get the Kershaw model 1725CB JYD for $55 each. They are manual flippers; very smooth, solid locks

My highest (and by far the cheapest) recommendation. They are also brute strong; a composite blade with a D2 edge. I cut up boxes a couple of days ago; the JYD went through them like butter. No kidding.
I really love mine, and I've had CRKs and Striders and Hinderers, but the JYD is the one for your relatives.

For gifts to non knife nuts, I like the Cold Steel American Lawman. The name alone gives pride in ownership. Price is right, strong lock and very easy to sharpen. Those who have watched their videos know they are brutal when it comes to cutting cardboard and rope.

My Mom and i looked at 3 Cold Steels the Lawman,AK47, and recon 1. And with those three she liked the AK47 and Recon 1 the most and i haven't read anything bad about them but i havent looked into them that much. But i did plan on getting both of those for myself eventually so i am curious on peoples opinion on those 2 for them.

The AK is a bit of a tank. Why not get one Recon 1 clip point and one spear point?

Kershaw composite blade Junkyard Dog II or Speedform II. The CPM-D2 on the composite blades retains its edge as well as S30V. The Speedform II uses Elmax, which I hear great things about (no firsthand experience though). If you're flexible on the assisted-open, a Blur in S30V or CPM154 would also be great options. I believe Kershawguy has blems for these for well under your spend limit, which would make excellent users.

Spyderco Delica, Endura, or Stretch would also be good. All feature VG-10 on the mainstream models, which also takes and holds a great edge. They do come in fancier steel options, but all those run over your dollar limit.

Buck Vantage Pro (small or large) would be another option. Very solid-feeling knives with nice, contoured, smooth G10 scales. S30V on those.

Do you mean $70 max total or for each? The Spyderco Delica 4 and Kershaw Skyline are great, usable knives that do their job well but are very lightweight and unobtrusive at the same time. If you want something heavier and more sturdy, I've been very impressed with the Enlan EL-01 for the price.

Isn't AUS8 manufactured in Japan though?

Since you mentioned the AK-47 I'll comment on that. It's a bad ass knife. It came razor sharp and AUS8 is easy to keep sharp. I've abused mine far beyond knife use and it took drunkenness and another piece of steel to break it. I also have a Recon1, nice but doesn't fit my hand as well. The thumb plate on the AK is easier to open or can be waved open, and the lock on mine is not as stiff as the Recon1. I've also found many uses for the pommel on the AK-47 from smashing things to using as a hook to pull stuff that would cut or hurt my fingers.

I'll second the Buck Vantage Pro. S30V holds an edge very well, easy to carry, looks nice, and if you mean $75 per knife, you will have money left over to spend.

Ontario RAT-1. You could buy two for less than $75 and they are excellent knives...
