I don't know if this type of thing has ever happened to any of you, but....
I purchased a DeLeon bali off of the forum here, and had it sent USPS insured. when I received the package, the box got smooshed.
In order to file a claim with USPS, I need an expert's assesment of what the knife is worth;
new in box?
new without box?
box alone?
the knive I bought is mint condition. It looks exactly like the one in the Lew collection, but without the "thank you card"
The post office won't take my word for it, because I have a vested interest. I would rather not take the sellers assumption, because I don't think that he knew what he had in the first place.
I need a third party to give a statement on what the box would cost new, what it would be worth/cost "repaired", etc.
The insurance for the package was for $50.00.
This is really a beautiful knife, unmanipulated, and the box has the little tatami mat and the hemp string to tie it in, but the end is all blown off the end, and there is a little chip that is lost where the hinge pin is located.
I have a picture of the actual knife and box from the sale, but right now Photopoint is down for "remodeling". I'll post pics when it gets back up.
are any of you out there an "expert" on things like this?
Thank's!!
